Hi Pat,
Just a quick note from us, that we are back in Denmark in good shape. STANLEY IS AMAZING!! Nothing less than PERFECT! He has taken it all in the most fantastic manner and we are already deeply in love with him and VERY proud of him. What a dog!!! Even the stairs he did with ease after only one try. We are amaaaazed! I will be back soon with more on the forum
Thank you so much Pat & Ooops! for a wonderful day! It was great fun and I simply cannot get your beautiful Greyhounds out of my head. So amazing seeing those top tuned BEAUTIFUL dogs in all colours. What a sight! It has been an adventure for us adopting Stanley and we enjoy every second with him and can’t thank you enough for all your help and support. Please send our warm regards to everyone working with the Greyhounds at the Kennel. They were all GREAT!
Kind regards
Kjell & Charlotte and of course Stanley
PS. Right now Stanley is lying under my desk on my duvet (that he has chosen) sleeping away after a good walk in the rain.
ADDITIONAL BY MARK: I exchanged a few emails with Charlotte just prior to her picking up Stanley, when she signed up a forum account. Apparently Greyhounds are very rare in Denmark, they perhaps don't have racing there?

We are proud owners of amazing Stanley and he has this evening almost taken over the sofa. He left a little corner for me:) He learns real quick, as he arrived to Denmark late last night. So tonight we enjoy a sweet moment in the sofa and if I am not wrong we both REALLY enjoy it. It was a long trip home, but Stanley behaved so well and so far he has been more than perfect. We were a bit worried about the stairs, but that was NOT a problem. I just put one paw on the first staircase and off he went. Strange enough going down is even easier for him. He is a gentle, sensitive dog. Today he tried to "kill" a sheepskin and I softly said no and he immediately stopped. What a SMART dog he is, Said the proud Mom. Sorry Greyhound owners, but we just got the BEST of them all:)

Hi Mark yes they do but you cannot home a greyhound there for some strange reason pat Very strange indeed! The interweb suggests there are only two Greyhound Racing tracks in Denmark.

Hi Pat:) we are tough owners, we still own our bed! We have tried to play with him today, but he just looks at us like we are a bit "not right in our heads". Well, we will not give up on the play thing. We know a little dog that may teach him when the time is right:) for now we will just leave him in peace and let him settle down to his new life. Kjell says that Stanley is a REAL man the way he is burping and farting. Hmmmm.....Take care Pat:) Lots of love from the 3 of us PS. More photos coming up soon.

By accident one of the photos came out quite funny. Guess which photo..Kjell has lost his place in the sofa and both seem rather content:) Stanley had a walk to the lake today and cooled his paws in the water on this warm day. Stanley has met quite a few small dogs today and he is very cool about it, even when they bark and makes a big fuss. Stanley just stands still with a loose rein and wonders what all the fuss is about....

Well done, Charlotte and Kjell Stanley is a very handsome boy and looks so at home already.
And it sounds like you have very quickly got the greyhound bug- they are addictive! Greyhounds often get a lot of attention when out and about over here, but I'm guessing Stanley will become a mini celebrity, if you don't have retired greyhounds over there!
Welcome to the forum, by the way! Sue

Congratulations on becoming the proud owners of a Black greyhound.
Greyhounds make wonderful companions and quickly adjust to domestic life. Lily, my last greyhound never attempted to jump on the furniture. Cara who has been with me for only 2 months, made herself comfortable on the armchair within a couple of days. She has a lovely calm nature and shares me with a staffordshire bull terrier and a 3 legged chihuahua.
Like Sue B, I was thinking of Stanley out walking in Denmark, being the focus of attention because of his 'uniqueness' there. Maybe he will encourage others to take one of the beautiful dogs still waiting in kennels at Dunton for their forever home.
Congratulations to Stanley on becoming Greyhoundhomer's Ambassador in Denmark.
Look foward to hearing of his progress.

Thank you Sue and Patshep I enjoy telling little Stanley stories. Today I am a little thoughtful... This morrning Stanley seemed happy and we actually played some ball and he liked it. What he really likes is to rob our clothes, taking whatever he can find at put it in his various beds. He has a naughty/proud look on his face when picking something up and we do not want to take this pleasure away from him. I get happy when he looks naughty:) This evening however my heart bleeds for him. He seems nervous of sounds and a bit worried about the whole life change. When we take walks the smallest things makes him jump, but no wonder. Lots of stuff to get used to. All in time I guess. We shower him with affection and reassurance, so little by little he will be OK. Stanley does get a lot of attention on our walks. Some people say; wow what an elegant dog, others look with BIG eyes and others looks a bit intimidated. So we get all kinds af reactions. We will of course promote Greyhounds all we can and who knows maybe Greyhounds wont be such a rare sight in Denmark in the future......We will do our part thats for sure.

Stanley sounds a typical greyhound, so many of them steal clothes, shoes etc and put in their beds, especially at the beginning. I think its because they like the smell of you on the items when lying on their beds.
Stanley will be fine, they do take a little while to adjust to the big wide non-greyhound world (especially outside of the house). I can remember our 1st hound (Brennan) worrying about a big bag of leaves on the pavement and not wanting to walk past it! You are doing a grand job!

Tonight we have a REAL Stanley breakthrough!! He has been really HAPPY and playfull and we are overjoyed:) We have also been playing a recall game with cheese. That went very very well and the three of us was having lots of fun:) Now we are being couch potatoes and he is licking our hands and seem very content with life. What a wonderful day! PS. Stanley is from time to time clicking his teeth, I wonder what that means??
