What do you feed your dog? After trying several type of food out since we've owned Sean we've settled on Mad Dog Marketings Greyhound Maintenance, which we get two bags at a time from eBay. Their eBay shop is here. They also have a website which is here. Typically we mix in half a sachet of Wainwrights 'wet' dog food as well which seems to help it all slip down nicely. His output is pretty easy to clear up. Whoops did I almost mention the 'poo' word there. DOH!

Mark, on a scale of 1 for firm up to say 7 for yuk, how would you rate Seanys poos now. Sorry Sean. I am thinking of changing Cassies food but to what I don't know, hers aren't consistent. Bed time one fine, first morning one ok, park ones start deteriorating. Yvonne

Hi Mark we use Wafcol Greyhound Maintenance and found it to be satisfying to our 4.They gobble it up. If you work to 15grms per kilo you wont be far out. Diana also cooks veg for them and adds some rice, also they get a hard boiled egg twice a week, and the Wafcol is softened with gravy. Each afternoon the get 1 Weetabix mixed with warm milk. We have never had any dietry problems and we dont get smelly wind problems either. Give it a go. Dave & Diana.

I use "Gain greyhound 20" which is 20% protein, it has worked wonders for berties poopy :-)
he has colitis so he obviously has a sensitive tum; and this is perfect for him. he hasnt put on any extra weight, his coats in lovely condition. also we mix in pilchards in tomato sauce, tuna as a treat, and butchers tinned meat. Also with the Gain biscuits, he doesn't get wind!!!!
on all the others i tried it was awful, basically we had the windows open 24/7!

Fizz and Molly, (yes Molly!!!) both have Greyhound maintenance, Science TD for their teeth and tonight.................... dinner was topped up with spaghetti bolognaise. They woofed it down in record time so it must have been ok. These days I rarely throw any food away, my little and large canine dustbins take care of it. They are both healthy and bang on their weight.
And p.. is of a consistency that can be easily managed and disposed of. No windy pops either.

Yvonne Hi Yvonne, we find that Seans output has been very consistent on this latest food, we'd say it averages 2-3, it's pretty easy to pick up but isn't bullet hard - which would of course be the ideal, but we're happy as it is, and the cost of the food.

I have just changed our three on to a raw and natural diet. I am doing a college course in Canine Care, Training and Management at the mo and have just covered nutrition, and was shocked at what goes into dog food and biscuits so took the decision to change their diet.
I was worried when I first started as I thought is was going to be really difficult, but it is really easy and their poo and quantity of poo has really changed. This is because they are digesting more goodness and not needing to extract so much of the waste that is put into commercial food.
I still feed them twice a day, once in the morning about 6.30am then about 7.30pm (we feed late as this agrees with Ruby's digestion system, when we were feeding earlier she was messing on the floor most nights, since we have feed later she has been clean)

hi all.. in the mornings we feed Jeddie 1 tin of wet food (tescos, pedigree chum etc) and a couple of handfuls of complete dry food, and big Ozzie 1 and a half tins plus complete dry. evenings is the same. Weekends its a grilled sausage, bacon, scrambled egg each, plus weetabix and skimmed milk as a starter. there are obviously some switches, like yesterday we realised we had no tinned food, so i gave them a bowl of complete dry each and a cup of warm beef stock to soften it up. (Ozzie coughs dry food everywhere unless its been soaked). Like Lord Frank, they also have other stuff , this week for instance its been chicken lasagne, bangers & mash, pizza, chinese takeaway, bolognaise and the leftovers of last sundays roast beef dinner. Plus.. all the various christmas doggy treats our families gave them.

Mine were on Wafcol but it didn't really agree with Jay - switched to Burns chicken & rice which they both loved but it was quite expensive. Luckily they eat pretty much anything so this week we've changed to skinners duck & rice. Each meal is supplemented with some Nature Diet plus we cook a few chickens each week and freeze them for adding to each meal. They also get a variety of left-overs depending on what we have for dinner

Betty has Wafcol soaked in weak gravy and chicken or fish or vegetables or leftovers or occasionally she has to have dog food (Butchers) - she also has toast for breakfast. If hubby does her breakfast she gets scrambled egg on toast. She also loves cheese. Did I say she's not spoilt:) Nicky

Tia loves Butchers tinned food, any flavour, mixed with pedigree chum small bite mixer biscuits. Anything bigger biscuit wise and she leaves it. She has 2 tins a day with mixer and then there is the rich tea biscuits, treats, toast, crisps and any left over dinner that we leave. She is a dustbin !
