Fagin has settled in really well no nervous tummy or problems at all. He does smell very doggy and fart a lot though. Any advice please ?
At the moment I'm feeding him complete mix with a little milk and water in the morning and the same mix with watery gravy , cheese or veg and a cod liver oil tablet at night. Other that that a couple of dog chews.
I'm aiming to give him sardines once a week. We don't eat meat so don't have left overs to give him of that type.

Oh dear!
Some people swear by dog biscuits containing charcoal - I think that winalot do them as part of their 'shapes' range. I'm sure that others will have lots of advice.
All 3 of ours are rather farty (and our previous grey and our previous lurcher) - it may be a breed trait! We just live with it though - our noses are shutting down in horror as time goes on!

prince was very farty when we got him, we changed his food to wafcol greyhound maintenaince adding water to it, it has worked for us because even tho he still farts you don`t smell him any more. what i will say is stay away from pigs ears because they really make then smell. but i think it is trial and error to see what you dog is best suited to. also we treated him to a full shampoo and pamper session at the poodle parlour, because are attempt of washing him when we got home freightened us as greys are know for collapsing under warm water, so i left it to the professionals. he was washed dried, nails clipped his protuity glands were cleaned and he came out smelling and looking lovely, i couldn`t stop smelling him for weeks. and it only cost 25.00 well worth it for my little prince.

He probably smells a bit kennely, give him a bath at the earliest opportunity and a good grooming, that's sort him out. Some folks bath their dogs in the bath, but we do Sean (because he's a fairly big lump) outside when it's a warm day so he dries off quickly, you just need some doggy shampoo and a some warm water.

LOL !! ;D By all means blame your husbands, but dont give Greys a bad name. Nobody will want to home one. It could be that the dog has a sensitive tummy, then, as has already been said, its most probably what you are puting in the top end. And this can be said for any breed, not just Greys. Try a food suitable for senstive tums and perhaps try a pro-biotic powder, and when switching foods, do it gradually, over a number of days, otherwise you will give them an upset tummy. I do have a dog with a weak tummy, but its not a Greyhound, and just the smallest thing, like a different dog treat can start her off, so look at these too. Dogs suffering this problem can be alergic to anything. I can honestly say my Greyhound girls are not smelly in any way. Bless them ;D

Other that that a couple of dog chews. I'm so sure that i read somewhere that Greyhounds are lactose intolerant. I could be wrong but i am so sure i either read it somewhere or we were told. So the little milk could be causing it. Jack can be very farty when he's had chicken but seeing as you don't eat meat it can't be that

It's hard to believe they're lactose intolerant when so many people give their greyhounds weetabix with milk for breakfast or as a bed-time snack :-)
Even our guide to breeds book (admittedly old) recommends giving them weetabix!
Mind you, that may explain why so many of them are farty (says she holding her nose as three gust past the armchair!).

Yes you are right. I dont give mine milk or weetabix and they are fine. They just have a smaller meal in the morning than the evening, and morning is complete food mixed with natures diet chicken, and evening meal is, complete food mixed with pilchards in tomato sauce. They do have a bonio here and there as well, and chews.

i was told by a trainer that if you give them milk it has to be diluted with warm water. Ruby i gave prince pilchards in tomato sauce to try and it didn`t agree with him from the wrong end, its a shame because i do try different things as a treat. when he has warm diluted milk on cornflakes with a raw egg his farts smell milky lol.

Pat has weetabix with a mixture of milk and water and he eats ordinary dog food, pedigree better by nature, or waitrose, or tesco (which is the same as waitrose but £2 cheaper). He also has Pilchards in Tomato Sauce. Thankfuly, his smelly trumps are few and far between.
