Hello Im Verna, This time last year we didnt know about the world of Greyhounds. We had a lercher Tessa who was 21 and very ill, and on the 8th jan last year I decided to have her put to sleep. After having a dog for so long the house seemed to be so empty we decided to wait a couple of years before we would start looking but after a week it was empty and lonely with out a dog. we went to battersea in windsor, dog homes in kent we sort of knew we wanted a lercher but didnt see any and saw a few at windsor who where greys there was a really nice big boy who was scared of matthew (motor mouth son) we looked on line and found a few greyhound homes, we got checked out and went to luton for Daisy. and about 6 weeks later we got Abbey from RGT Ockendon. Both girls get on really well together I could talk about them forever they have changed our lives like you would not beleave and we have met some really nice people who also have greys. Im looking forward to getting to know more people this year. p.s Matthew 7yr old son is a good boy he just doesnt shut up. He was pleased to see sean hip sway) today and said he can finish off teaching him work quite funny to see him trying to teach the dogs wrods and maths lol

Hi all! We're Sarah and Nick and up until a week ago yesterday we were owned by just the one grey who is 6 years old, white and fawn and goes by the name of Vinny (racing name Kilfinny Boss). He is affectionately call 'Banana Brain' and he came from Elaine's kennel in Bishops Stortford. We've had him since August ;D Last Monday (28th Dec) things changed and made our Christmas the best ever when our beautiful little black girl Gracie Lu (previously called Lucy - racing name Quivers Light) joined the fold. She is 2 years and 8 months old and her last race was in October. She came from the Ockendon kennel. Her well deserved nickname is 'Muppet' ;D We've also discovered that they're cousins - linked way back through three different dogs! It's fab news! We also have a furry purry baby called Tilly who is almost 12. She's black and white with the loudest purr ever. She's as important to us as the woofers and has the nickname of 'Tickles' ;D All 3 of our babies go under the combined name of 'the shmoos' I've always loved Greyhounds but have been brought up around Border Collies - although I have also had a Jack Russell (dear Lily who went to the Rainbow bridge in March of last year a week off her 15th birthday) Nick has never been a dog person - but that has all changed now! What an amazing, gorgeous, wonderful, gentle, trusting and loyal breed these beautiful dogs are. We have now lost both our sofas - but you know what - it is so worth it - and we wouldn't be without our sweeties for all the money in the world (although if I had all the money in the world we would have more that 2 greys that's for sure! ;D I will attempt to post some pics soon Love n hugs Sarah, Nick, Vinny, Gracie Lu & Tilly xxxxxx

Hi I am Angela and I live with my partner Kevin and my 18 year old son Simon, a cat Holly and a snake Liquid and three greyhounds. Tia Our first, we will of had her 3 years in February and I will always be gratefully to her for introducing us to the breed, you could say she saved my life as I was not in a good place before we got her, she opened a whole new world for me . She is a 4 year old Blue who did not race as she broke her wrist in a trial, but still is very very keen. Ruby Our second. Ruby is my little baby, she totally attached herself to me when we got her, she had really bad separation anxiety from me even though we had Tia she just wanted to be with me all the time, but we have overcome all that now. Ruby did not race as she would not chase, she is a 4 year old black. Charlie Our third. Now where do I begin with Charlie, he is a 3 year old blue boy who only did 9 races and retired through injury. He was so nervous when we got Charlie, he would coward in the corner of the kitchen shaking if anyone approached him, but we have overcome that, he is still nervous but now will approach people with a waggy tail. He is also a little mischief and trouble just seems to follow him about I take them to obedience training and all three are in top class. I also work at the training school with the greyhounds and puppy classes. I have done agility with Ruby and she loved it, I had to stop as it clashed with me working at the training school, but when we do it she still loves it. I have achieved The Kennel Club Good Citizen Gold Award with Tia and Ruby. I have just done the Bronze with Charlie and hopefully will be doing the Silver later in the year. Tia and Ruby are both in a Greyhound obedience display team. I also make collars, leads and accessories for dogs and give a percentage to greyhound charities. www.greyhoundboutique.co.uk/Sorry for such a long post but I am so proud of my babies Angela

Hello, I'm Pat in Luton. I can't remember a time in my life when I haven't had a dog. Nine and a half years ago I brought home Molly,an eight-week YorkieX as a companion to Suzie my ten year old lurcher. Sadly Suzie died in January 2006 and I was so devasted that I took the decision not to rush into another dog, and for the foreseeable future it would be just Molly and me. That all changed in September 2008 when I saw an ad at the Vets for an ex-racing greyhound. When I got home I scoured the internet and found Elaine at Bishops Stortford. I told Elaine I wanted a girl, age and colour immaterial. She said I have just the girl for you, her name is Fizz. Along with my daughter, two lively grandchildren and Molly we went to meet her, she decided she liked us and the rest is history. :)I knew I wouldn't have a problem with Molly who was used to taller dogs, but how would Fizz feel about her - no probs, from that day they have been inseparable. Although fed separately, they eat from the same bow (Fizz's bowl), it's great to see them together. I love my 'odd couple' and wouldn't be without them.

Hi everyone. We are Bronwen, Ian, Matthew and Joe -- family of the gorgeous Elvis and his sister, Lucy. Elvis is a great big handsome white and black boy who came to live with us just over three years ago. He's very laid back and totally uninterested in small, fluffy things. Eating and relaxing are his favourite hobbies, closely followed by, um, relaxing and eating. In October we got a phone call from Pat to let us know that one of Elvis' sisters, Lucy, was in need of re-homing, so of course we had to have her! She came to live with us on November 1st of last year and is absolutely adorable. She shares the family interest in, um, relaxing and eating, but is also very attracted to small fluffy things and will happily spend ages in the garden looking for furry or feathered creatures to get excited about. Lucy is a delicate, lady-like creature compared to big stocky Elvis but they look really good together, especially when they're curled around each other on the sofa. We're so happy to have Elvis and Lucy in our family, but from the puppy photos we have, it would appear that there were seven in the litter so the set isn't quite complete yet. Two down, five to go... ;D

Hello everyone,
I'm shell and am owned by our beautiful brindle penny.
We have had penny just over a year and she has changed our lives completely.
I grew up in a houseful of dogs but never before had a greyhound. I now wouldn't want any other breed, they are such loving affectionate animals.
