Hi all, I'd like to try Fizz on a new food. She's been on Wainwrights Salmon and potato for a long time now and was doing well on it. For some reason they've changed the shape of it and now she finds it difficult to chew.
I thought she was just being fussy at first, so tried her on a little of my other dog's food, which she eat easily enough. Can't put her on anymore of that one because it doesn't agree with her'
So was thinking of trying Iams and was wondering if anyone has tried their dog on that food. If not could anyone recommend a dry food I could try her on please? She does have a sensitive tum. Thank you.

Hi Lee
I've been all through this too with Fizz. You name it she's had it. Iams and Wainwrights were ok but in the end they were cost prohibitive. That said, for the past 18 months she's been on Country Values Greyhound Maintenance which I serve dry. Because the dogs all tend to pick and mix at meal times, I put a small amount in all the dog bowls with no adverse effects to date. Sometimes I actually think they prefer it to their own food.
A 15k bag costs £9.99 from my local pet shop. The owner told me he gets it from Cost-Co
Nice to see you last week. Emma thought Fizz Jnr was beautiful.

We have a fussy eater, but he's got on OK with Chudleys Greyhound Maintenance since we've been in Devon, it's about £16 for 15Kg I think but maybe cheaper elsewhere since Cornwall Farmers aren't spectacularly cheap. www.chudleys.com/products/chudleys-dog/greyhound/greyhound-maintenance.htmlWe serve it mixed with things like Chicken, Minced Beef, Mini Sausage Rolls, Sausages, Webbox.

Hi thank you. Sorry I didn't mention before that the only Greyhound foods available round my way are for working Greyhounds. I'm not able to order online, so I'm limited to pets at home or the supermarket.
Both prices sound great though. I'm paying £33 for what she's on at the moment. She's getting quite good at separating sardines/sausages from the dry food and dropping what she can't manage on the floor. I still don't think that she's being fussy though, she usually eats whatever I put in front of her, but just can't manage to chew what she's having now.

Lee What about soaking the food in a gravy before serving it? Just make sure the salt level isn't off the scale in the gravy.

I asked the chap about this and he said they put that on so there is no VAT payable!!!

we use wafcol all the time and it is available from us, i have had a call from wafcol to say they are going to change the shape of the biscuit as it is cheaper to produce in pellets(it has just this week gone up£1 per bag, just be aware if you are changing your dogs food to do it gradually as changeing it quickly can and does give them the trots, so slowly does it and take a couple of weeks to change to another brand, just make sure it is 20%protein and no more pat

They've changed the Wainwrights to the pellet shape and that's what Fizz is having the trouble with. I did try the gravy a while back and for some reason she left most of it.
I'll try the gravy from pets at home and see how that goes.

Lee fizz have you thought of moistening the Wainwrights? Pets at home do various blocks of frozen minced meat or fish. I use it sometimes, about a 1/4 of a block defrosted and cooked in about half a mug of water for about 3 mins in micro and allowed to cool. I then add it to Cassies complete food to moisten it a bit. I also moisten her complete food with some warm water and mix about 1/3rd of a 400g tin of Butchers in or a small tin of sardines in.

I've seen country value in 2 branches of pets at home, so hopefully will be in your local store. (We mix it up with other dried food and mix with fresh chicken, mince, fish, tinned food etc, with water/gravy, as Bren doesn't seem to like it dry) Bren also has a tendancy to pick out the meaty bits, but if he's in that kind if phase we grate cheese and mix well in, so he cannot pick it out- he tends to finish the lot that way!
good luck sue

Hi thank you. The nearest pets at home to me is Charlton and they only do the food for working Greyhounds. She has sardines about once a week and she's really good now at picking them out from the dried food and dropping that on to the floor. As well as sardines she's had sausages, grated cheese, yogurt and chicken mixed in with her food.
I tried butchers tripe a while ago and though she wolfed that down it did make her loose. I didn't know PAH did frozen meat, but will give that a go thanks.
The funny thing is that when we're out for our walks she's got her nose to the pavement and she'll sniff out a mouldy old piece of bread and scoff that down like she hasn't eaten in weeks.
