September 2020 Update
Welcome to our update for September. Apologies for the lack of updates for the last couple of months unfortunately other things got in the way.
Normally at this time of the year we are finishing off a full program of events. Apart from attending a few boot sales we have not been able to be out and about promoting these wonderful hounds as pets and raising funds for the branch. Fingers crossed for a better 2021.
A number of volunteers were at the kennels on Christmas morning last year opening and giving the kennel dogs their presents and reflecting on a busy 2019 and wondering if we could reach 100 dogs homed for 2020. It seemed like an ambitious target at the time. Along came Covid and we thought our goal for this year was well and truly blown. However we are delighted to report that we reached 100 dogs homed during July! To paraphrase ‘we need a bigger target’!
Homing continues to be brisk with 32 dogs being homed during the three months since our last update. A big thank you for all the support during this rather strange time, without our dedicated kennel staff, great volunteers, lovely supporters and wonderful adopters we could not have homed so many of our fantastic hounds.
Due to Covid restrictions visits to the kennels to view our hounds is by appointment only as we are having to limit numbers. We have re-started walking on Monday, Wednesday and Friday but again we need to limit numbers. If you want to come to walk our hounds please call us to arrange a suitable day before you come along to the kennels.
Stay safe.
