Hi all, my boy Law had such a terrible problem with his poo for a long time so the vet put him on Royal Canin dry food which worked a treat. Phew. However it just doesn't fill him up. We've put him on the moderate calorie mix as the vet didn't want him to stay on the high calorie one for too long but now he's even more hungry. We supplement his food with raw chicken mince but no he's still starving and I mean STARVING. Every time we go near the kitchen there he is. When we are eating there he is. We are so scared of setting off his bad tummy again that we really just don't know what else to give him. He's also weeing nearly every night in the kitchen. We think it's cos he's so hungry he can't settle. We are back at vets this week but just need advice please. Each time he's been weighed he hasn't lost weight ...

From time to time we have the dreaded runny bum. We find rice and boiled chicken sorts things out.
You may wish to talk to you vet but adding some boiled rice may bulk out his food. Does he empty his bowl when you put his food down?

Does he have a problem with specific foods? We found Ben suits 3 smaller meals, rather than just 1 in the evening. He has 1 wheetabix in the morning with bio yoghurt and very weak gravy, then a little bit of pasta and chicken/tuna or toast and pilchards at lunch. We also vary his evening food adding things like steamed veg, a little bit of good quality wet food or cooked offall etc., though keeping the dry food the same. We also add some Burns-hypoallergenic-mixer which is rice based and gives his dinner some bulk. The first 3 months he was with us with had the same problems, I think a lot of it is settling in to life in a new house, all dogs are different but a lot of greyhounds have the same 'runny bum' problem, ,but some dogs have more serious food issues so best to check with the vet if this is the case with yours.

We always feed our two in the morning and again about 5 in the afternoon we try and treat them with their afternoon feed by mixing pasta or rice or pilchards in with it .Just a thought about the runny bum our last grey had a gluten intolerance which really upset her
