Paddy has always been very keen on his walks - one in the morning and one in the afternoon - but over the last few weeks, he has started to refuse one of them, and sometimes both. So if he's been out in the morning, he often refuses the afternoon one, and sometimes he refuses the morning one, but is then quite happy to go out in the afternoon.
This is a real change of behaviour for him, and we don't know if we should be worried or not. He's 10 now, and so I'm wondering if he just doesn't want or need two walks per day. We can drag him round, of course, but I'm not keen to do that, it seems so mean if he really doesn't want to go!!
Any thoughts or advice would be really appreciated, thanks

Does he seem in any pain/ discomfort? Last year Ben was not so keen on walks, also his back legs were slightly shaky. Our vet said he has a disc issue common in older greyhounds, he is on mild painkillers now and is loving walks again (though he does not go as far as he used to)

I am inclined to agree with Gail. A trip to the vets is probably in order as the hounds (or at least ours) seem to give little indication where they might be in pain even if they are limping.
Darcy was out on a walk on Monday and did something to his shoulder. He simply laid down and would not move! He was limping when eventually persuaded to get up to get into the car. When we got him home and laid out in his bed there was no obvious signs that anything in his shoulder or leg was causing him any pain.
Fortunately there was no sign of anything wrong the next day as he was back launching himself down the garden as if he had come out of the traps. He is most unimpressed with the restricted walks he is on at the moment. We will gradually build them back up.
I hope Paddy is back to his normal self soon.

Thanks for your replies, Paddy doesn't seem in any pain or even discomfort, but he also doesn't really seem himself at the minute. He is definitely more unsteady on his back legs than he used to be, but that's been the case for probably over a year, and the vet has previously checked this out with nothing to report other than probable old age.
Sounds like it's time to get him another check though, with this new behaviour. Thanks again.
