Been to the vets and they think she may have suffered mild chocolate poisoning, as she has had a bad stomach during today, and although her lameness has improved this may well be part of the symptoms. So we have painkillers and anti inflammatory tablets, they said with a couple of days rest she will be good as new. Apparently some dogs are naturally more sensitive to chocolate than others, so thank goodness she didnt get hold of a bar of dark chocolate! Thanks for all the good wishes, and will ask people for non chocolate easter gifts next year!

Glad she is better Katie. I think you were lucky. A friend of mine has a terrier type that has nicked chocolate and had to have his stomach pumped twice ! It probably depends on the dog though, and obviously how much eaten. Hope she continues to improve x

Good, I'm glad she's on the mend. I think it is due to the dogs metabolism as well as their size as to how they're affected with chocolate. It's a shame that they don't dislike chocolate due to it making them unwell. My last hound would go out of her way to steal the chocolate advent calenders every year. They had to be put up on really high shelves or she'd find a way! Chocolate is poisonous to humans too, but I think you need to eat more chocolate than your stomach can physically contain. Sounds like a challange to me ;D

I am not suggesting you don't seek a vet's opinion but our greyhound ate 1.5kg of Cadbury's chocolate while we were out at work. It did nothing more than make him violently sick for a couple of hours. Not nice to have to clear up but we were just grateful that there was nothing more serious wrong with him. We learned our lesson about keeping everything under lock & key from a greyhound! They are artists when it comes to stealing! Best of luck with Blaze. I am sure he will be ok. x

Billy was limping around on his back left leg last night, but he stood on one of the kids toys, i wonder if houndies are just big bags of wooses cause it couldnt have hurt that much, it was a soft toy. Maybe its more of the same with Blaze. Hope the vet A-ok's him. Billy was fine this morning too

Glad Billy is ok. Betty decided to have a limp a couple of weeks ago. I'd given her breakfast and just walked past her (without touching her) and she yelped and then limped into the kitchen. Craig was just came down to go to work and I told him what had just happened, so he looked at her pads and checked her joints. He put her foot down and she walked off wth out a hint of a limp I think she was going for the sympathy vote ;D
