Hello can anyone help Blaze has tucked into some chocolate today, a small box of celebrations, and is now struggling to walk with problems in her back legs, could this be potential chocolate poisoning. Am really worrried.

I would give Pat a call, the answer is very possibly yes. I'm guessing she may suggest salt water to make the dog sick. 01708 551 689.

If it was only a minimum amount then it will not affect her, but I am sure there are people who know more than me, so I suggest to call. Pat or Mark as they are the experts

If you need an emergency vets (and your one doesn't do an out of hours service) call Wylies at Hornchurch 01708 251 200, there'll be an answerphone message with an emergency \ out of hours number you can call.

Chocolate poisoning usually shows as vomiting and diarrhea. Also, tbh celebrations chocolate isn't that high in the bit of chocolate that is poisonous compared to quality dark chocolate. For a dog as large as a greyhound I would expect an upset tum, but probably not much more than that. I suppose it's possible that the problems with walking could be due to abdominal pain.
I'm not suggesting that you don't contact the vet btw, just hoping to put your mind at rest re poisoning.
I hope Blaze is ok.

Agreed with Wolf dark chocolate is worse for dogs than the milk chocolate Celebrations would be made from. I have emailed Katie at work to find out whether there's any news - incase she can't get on or doesn't have time to get on the forum from there.

Thanks for the help and good wishes all, Blaze is ok although still limping around this morning. I dont think it was poisoning as she had no upset tummy just problems walking, I sat up with her until late last night to be certain she was ok, but looks like its more a problem with her rear left leg anyway my husband is taking her to the vets asap today to get her checked out.
