A friend of mine, due to a set of circumstances, has ended up with a Saluki puppy (no older than a year old, probably a cross) that needs a permanent home. We were a whisker off taking him before sanity prevailed. He is beautiful - basically a greyhound with fluffy ears and tail. He is going to the dogs trust at the weekend if we can't sort something more per mantle and I wonder if anyone has any advice or knows anyone? The vet thinks hes been through the mill a bit. Hope I haven't broken an unwritten rule by posting about a hound tht isn't 100% a greyhound!

You could have a chat with Pat, 01708 551 689. We have once or twice rehomed other sight hounds, usually picked up by the Police or Dog Warden. But if we have no space for the dog then the Dogs Trust should do a good job of rehoming it, they're quite careful because their dogs come from many sources and providence is often unknown they usually assess the dog quite carefully before rehoming it.

Hi sorry to say we are not allowed to re home any other breed of dog or have any other breed in the kennels,i would suggest the dogs trust as they do a really good job in home vetting and vetting the dogs, so they make sure the dog is in a good suitable home sorry we cannot help pat

There's also GRWE Greyhound Rescue West of England - don't know where you are located but they also cover East of England.
They dont have kennels as such like Greyhoundhomer but they have a wide net of foster carers. They home greyhounds, greyhound x's , lurchers, whippets, I think I've seen saluki x on their web site at some time.
If dog looks like Saluki, even a bitsa, I am sure there must be a Saluki rescue somewhere on the net that may be able to help.
Hope you get sorted Pat Sheppard

GRWE are based up and down the M5 corridor, so in the South West, but as Pat says they cover the whole country, their website is here www.grwe.com. The other obvious possibility is the RSPCA, www.rspca.org.uk, or the Blue Cross may be able to help, www.bluecross.org.uk.

Thanks everyone for your input, we've managed to find him a lovely home - moving in the weekend! We've realised though that we'll probably end up with a third hound once we've moved in to our bigger place. At some point one of you lot are going to have to stop us .
