On a recent visit to the vets she kindly told me that Trevor has the opposite problem to Peggy's and how can I say this kindly, is on the chunky side! Bless him he was so good at nipping in quick when I was,nt looking and nick what Peggy left. But I'm wise to that now! When the vet told me to cut down on his treets too she suggested I gave him veg and just a little fruit because of the sugar instead. I really did'nt think he would take kindly to that idea but how wrong was I. He loves sliced raw carrot, sliced cuecumber, melon, banana and clementines! Is this unusual or does anyone have a healthy hound too? x

The mother in laws Springer eats all those things you've mentioned, although to be fair she is the original doggy dustbin and there's nothing in her life except food! Sean on the other hand is fussy and will only eat some of those things like carrots if they're cooked. He won't touch raw carrot, and fruit is a no no! He's more of a fish and meat kind of hound.

You're really lucky to have a houndie that enjoys raw fruit and veggies. Olly will happily eat around the tiniest bit of veg in his bowl, even mashed in, but beware, I'm going to bake some veggie biscuits next week to see what his opinion is then...

That's great, what a healthy hound you will have with all that fruit & veg!! I was hoping my 2 would eat raw carrot, as it's supposed to be good for their teeth, but they will only eat it cooked and won't touch fruit.

If it's in her bowl, then Lily will eat it!! She has been known to 'lift' brocolli off my plate when my attention has been elsewhere.
