Hello,
Since Olly had his flea treatment administered 2 days ago he hasn't stopped flicking his ears and it must really be annoying him now poor thing. I'm worried I may have put it on too close to his ears so it's caused an allergic reaction.
I washed all around the area yesterday with malaseb shampoo and I popped some ear drops in this morning to see if that will help but he just seems really grumpy and groany this morning.
Has anyone any suggestions before my partner can get him to the vets tomorrow?
Many thanks

hi did you put it between the shoulder blades? if so will not affect his ears, he might just have ear mites in which case he would flick his ears, pat

Hi pat, I think I put it a bit too high!! It was more between his ears.... It just seems a bit of a coincidence that he started flicking couple hours after popping drops on.
Thanks for coming back, think I'll get Michael to pop him vets tomorrow for a check. I'm off abroad today so feeling paranoid!!

Hi Andrea,
Flea treatments like Frontline are typically applied between the shoulder blades as Pat mentions, unless the directions on the box state otherwise, the same applies to cats. I have also seen the kennel staff apply some from the same pippet near to (but not on) the base of the tail, so we've always done that with Sean as well.
Hope Olly gets the ear irritation he seems to have sorted out quickly!
Rgds, Mark

Thanks mark,
Sorry for the delay but only just got back from holiday. Michael took him to the vet Monday and he has an irritation/allergic reaction. They've given us a weeks worth of Virbac. On my return he still seems to be flicking but nowhere near as bad.
I've got to return to vet next week, if no luck then she wants to sedate him and flush his ears which seems a bit drastic, but anything to help him.
I missed him so much whilst I was away and he even came to the airport to pick me up this morning. Nothing like being greeted by a v excited greyhound :0)
