hi all As some of you know prince has been unwell for about 2 weeks now, but is making really good progress . Another week or so and he should be back on his lovely long walks and weight back to normal ;D. i wanted to share what happened to him leading up to when he was taken to the vets and diagnosed with pancreatitis. so you can look for the signs. it started with him showing signs of sadness . sleeping alot in the morning. not eating alot of his food to the point of not eating at all. not wanting to ask to go out. then not going to far when out. He was then unable to shake his body. And was shivering when he was not cold. Last friday when i took him to the second vet, he was starting to go down hill quickly. where he was panting alot shaking like he was having a fit, also not able to stand and screaming in pain even tho you never touched him. his temperture and glucose was normal. the vet did a blood test which showed he was very highly dehydrated and his white cell count was to low. He then put him on drip for 2 days with antibiotics to fight the infection. every day he is making improvements he is still a little tired and is walking a lot quicker. But he can now shake and is barking for his dinner and wanting to go out. prince is very lucky as dogs can die from pancreatitis if not caught in time. Diane & Prince

When Lynx had similar, we were also asked whether he was doing a 'play bow' - this can be a sign of abdominal pain - they're ;bowing' to try to relieve the pain.
Now, play bows are normally just that - an invitation to play, but if they're doing it when they have other symptoms (like Prince did) then it's worth mentioning it to the vet.
So glad that Prince is getting better...

prince is doing really well. eating, drinking, barking lol. but still only on short walks as he can get tired quickly. hopefully it won`t be long before he gets his weight back up aswell as he lost 3kg in 2 days while at the vets.
