Thought that I would let everyone know about a new chew I bought for Simon that seems very popular. It is a Stag Antler. Simon has been chewing it for a while and has made little progress so I reckon it'll last for ages and be good for his teeth etc.. The Antlers are naturally shed every year, so there is no cruelty involved. They apparently don't splinter or leave any mess, which has been proved correct so far. I got it from www.puredog.co.uk and I got a large one - so it cost about £12 including p&p. Pricy but should last.

Hi Lee,
Lyra and Simon really like the antler chews, in fact I have just recently had to buy them new ones. They probably have a chew on them for about 15 minutes every other day. Previously I had bought Simon a Nylabone (sp?) but he wouldn't touch it. I think the antlers help to clean their teeth.

I've just ordered a couple of these for my 2. Have been trying so many things for Bren's teeth, without huge sucess.

Do you brush his teeth Sue? If he won't have them brushed the Petzlife oral spray is a good compromise.

Hi Rachael Yes, he has a toothbrush/paste, we have the Petzlife gels (2 sorts) and boxes & boxes of dentastix!! Admittedly we were doing several times a week rather than every day, but his teeth seem to have deteriorated in the last few months, along with him going quite grey! So we've upped the frequency of the brushing, alternating with gel and their Stagbars came today. I was surprised as Bren and Nelly were quite excited and both took to them straight away, so no doubt they will help too! So thanks for the post about them.

Hi Sue I'm glad they like the antlers. Some hounds have worse teeth than others, Lyra is nearly 5 and has much better teeth than Simon who is only 2 and a half! I brush their teeth with Logic Gel which you can by on Amazon for £6 (is £13 in pets at home!) and also sspray them with Petzlife and give dentastix! Think I give more attention to the dogs teeth than my own!

I bought 3 of these for my 3 at crufts this year, and they have not touched them! They love the rawhide chews but have not touched these.
