just checked the website, greyt exploitations(dont know why I read these sites cos I always end up crying).Apparently she had a broken hock which from what I can make out is treatable, but as she was a racing greyhound was deemed a financial liability

My Fizz suffered a broken hock, which after treatment left her with a crooked back leg and a limp. Fortunately for her, and for me, her owner handed her over to Greyhoundhomer.

Frank broke his wrist and thank god they treated it and he was passed to Pat for rehoming. I have heard a broken hock is able to be repaired, but like Sarah asked does Fizz still have problems.
His Lordship pulls up on his wrist even now after six years if he runs or turns quick, he also has (sorry for spelling) Spondulitus of the spine which I treat with Metacalm and lots of love.

Fizz seems fine, although when she gets up off her bed, it takes her a couple of seconds to get going,. When she's out in the garden she races round the trampoline at lightening speed (I daren't watch).
Coincidentally, five years ago my little Molly was racing around the garden with my then Lurcher who stopped suddenly, Molly couldn't put on the brakes quick enough and she ended up with a broken hock. She was in plaster for six months but she too has a crooked back leg and limps.
I think possibly arthritis could be a complication, but at the moment both seem happy and pain free.
Not only are my two Little and Large, they are a pair of lovable old crocks.

Bert suffered from a broken hock, his trainer let it heal for three months an he raced another 80races!!!! I just think it's pathetic that he didn't treat the poor young girl then give her to a greyhound kennel....or say to there neares kennel, take her or she gets PTS!!!! I'm sure someone would of taken her....things like this really annoy mr :-(

I dont understand why the vets at the tracks put the dogs to sleep for these injuries, yet if you go to a vets with your pet dogs they are not allowed to put animals to sleep without a serious reason for doing so.do the vets at tracks have different rules?

Rehomed dogs don't have the potential to bring in money. Obviously. And similar to race horses? And also those with an injury; which might require lots of money to put it right? How many have we seen shot doing the Grand National and fell at whatever fence and suffered an injury?? Big hopes and lots of money betted on them, but after their tragic fall?, forgotten, and only fit for the abbatoir. It's almost psychopathic! Call me a sceptic, but surely it doesn't take that much to work out? When you're talking humans, and forgive me; in my opinion, the most ultimate cruellest breed of creature on this planet of ours (you only have to look at their extensive history), then you have your answer. And humans are the most greediest, as said, cruel, and pathetic creatures i have known on this planet. That's why i have little time for the majority of them, but lots of time for a handful of us, and all the time in the world for such innocent and gentle creatures as greyhounds etc.
