Just wanted to say that Ty is doing very well - he's now very happy in the house and garden - he struts around as if he owns the place. He's quite happy in the car, though he still looks worried when we're out on walks in the park, less so in the countryside.
I've playing the Clix sounds CD at the moment - I have to say that it has a great selection of firework and other noises. You start playing it at a low volume and gradually increase the volume over a period of weeks and, in theory, your dogs get desensitised to the noise. The volume you start at depends on the dog's reactions.
It's on a low volume now but not so low that I can't hear it (apparently dogs can hear at much lower volumes than humans) - Lou and Lynx are sleeping through it (as you'd expect!); Ty lifted his head at first then fell asleep like the others.
Sorry, it's a long post but I'm fascinated to see whether this de-sensitisation technique will work. It was recommended to us by a dog behaviourist for Blue. I'll keep you posted!

Sue- Great Ty is making progess he's a lovely boy. I'm interested in hearing about how Ty is with this CD.
I was going to try one with Brennan, I'd better get on with buying one. Although it's very quiet where we live (despite being in London) people seem to go absolutely mad with fireworks, we're surounded on all sides and they are sooo loud! I'm also thinking about taking him down to Broadstairs for a couple of days before 5th, as they don't have as many there.
Why has no-one invented "houndie headphones" they can wear when they go jogging, that automatically increase volume in accordance with external noises and play soothing music to them (Hound Dog, Who Let the Dogs Out or even classical......Bach, Purcell...oh no, that's for cats!!) LOL! Maybe I should get a business plan and apply for Dragons Den!!
Seriously, if anyone has other tips for nervous greys at firework time, would be great to hear from you! (Sorry Sue, did not mean to take over your thread, I've now started a new one re fireworks!)

Hi Sue B, much better to start a new thread on fireworks - I just wanted to report on Ty because he's doing very well at home - eventually I hope he'll be as confident wherever we go.
