Hi My name is Sue and I'm Brennan's "Mum," he came home yesterday! My daughter really wanted us to get Lunchy, but when I walked him up the lane, he was having a hairy day and I ended up in the hedge! Not a good idea for someone with a bad back! Brennan is so placid. He looked so very lost when he first got here, but is very slowly starting to investigate his new home. Bless! My daughter took the photo- it was later in the evening when he was finally settling down to sleep, so the light is not so good, we didn't want to spook him with the flash. I had a terrible night's sleep last night, Brennan was amazingly good and quiet (and no accidents), but I kept listening out for him, takes me back to having a baby! I've been reading the forum for a couple of months now and can finally get to join in now we finally have our lovely boy!

Thanks everyone! We hope to come along to the Stifford show and meet people, I'm sure Brennan will be so pleased to see greyhound chums again. No doubt I'll be posting some queries on here in the next few weeks, as although we've had a rescue dog, never had a greyhound before. We did our little bit to spread the word this am about how gentle greyhounds are, met a couple while walking him and they asked me if his muzzle was on because he would bite!

Hi sue, when we adopted our lovely boy, george 2 months ago it was a choice between him and brennan ! But we have 2 dogs and brennan seemed a little shy for them so we brought home george who fits in perfect with them, but i still have a soft spot for brennan he is a lovely boy.xx

Hi Sue and all George looks a lovely boy, too, and a bit like Brennan? I know they are all great (or should I say greyt?!), but we wanted a black one, as we knew they are harder to home. He is a bit shy, but has been absolutely amazing so far, with only one set of small barks at 4am on monday; no accidents at all. He's throwing one of his soft toys as I write! The next bit is getting him to stay on his own for a few minutes, although he seems happy to be on his bed while we're in another room for a few minutes. Then (when he's ready) introductions to other types of dogs- as he seems terrified of them!

Hi Sue We homed Ben 2 months ago, and as first time greyhound owners, the first few weeks were quite daunting! But with lots of help and advice from Pat and from the forum, he is now one of the family. He was very scared of other dogs at first, growling and trying to run away. We have been going out once a week with Jo, a local dogwalker, and 5 dogs of varying shapes and sizes. Now he loves it, though still on the lead he does not need a muzzle. He is so much better now, though he is not keen on boxer/bulldog types. Good luck with Brennan, he looks like a lovely dog. Gail

Hi Gail and Berties Mum Thanks for your comments, your boys look lovely, too! That's a good idea to link up with the local dog walker. Although we live in London there's a lot of greenery, which is nice, but means a lot of dogs around at times! I suspect a shy greyhound settling in a home is a longer process than with most dogs, not surprising given what they've known before.
