I y dog died several years ago. She was a saluki/lurcher/staffy cross. I rescued her from being used to guard cannabis grow rooms. She was grey like that by the time I managed to wrestle her from them, because the bright lights 24/7 do nasty things to the brain. She shook almost constantly and the guys just yelled at her for doing it. She would climb under my duvet and it felt like a vibrating bed.But I take Caring for a dog very seriously. If she couldn't go somewhere, nor did I. She was my shadow and we were inseparable. Except when I took her collar off, which indicated she could go and hunt.It was just her instinct. But one day, I fell asleep in the sun while she found a field of ewes with their young lambs. Not one to waste a life, we carved it up for a BBQ. While it's mother called out for it, up in the field. I wasn't hanging around though. The farmer probably only came down twice a year. But with my luck, it would be that day and I would have to let him shoot her, and probably wind up in a Welsh court too.I miss her every minute of every day. I'm visually impaired and have been offered a guide dog. But I struggle to look after myself, let alone a dog. 💜
