We've started taking Alex to training classes - he's too scared to do very much but we think that being in a room with different people/dogs will help him in the long run.... The dog trainer says he's a "damaged dog" and we can't disagree with that - at home he's started to play with toys and is quite mischievous, but if he think you've seen him playing or you go to play with him he cowers away as if he's anticipating being punished for the most normal of puppy behaviours - it breaks my heart. In the meantime we persevere - he will sometimes come to me for a fuss (maybe once a day), but a lot of the time he'll come close then shy away. I get the most amazing puppy greetings when I get in from work - he looks so excited to see me but he won't come close enough for cuddles. He hasn't bonded to us yet, but we're committed to him. He loves his zoomies and his bed and his buddies Archie and Henry, who are teaching him what it means to be a greyhound :-) indigodream.wordpress.com/2016/11/28/dog-blog-an-alex-update/

Many years ago we adopted a female Doberman, we already had a very lively adopted male, she was frightened of everything and completely lacked confidence. Bach Rescue Remedy sorted her out, I also used it on Cass to cure her firework phobia. Would you consider something like that to help Alex, awful to see a dog that is scared of the big wide world.
