Our lovely girl Mandy (Calling Mandy) is at home with us in Belgium since Sunday! She was very shy to come out of the car the first time, but oooo what a lovely girl she is now! She lives with us now, together with 2 American Hairless Terriƫrs. Not the easiest dogs, they are not really doing very nice to her, but she doesnt attend on it.
She is already a cuddling monster! She eats well, she sleeps wel, goes out for her walks, only the stairs is a big problem, we live upstairs our business and offcourse the garden is downstairs, so my husband has to carry her. Maybe we must put carpet steps on the stairs for her.
Yesterday and the day before she didnt want to pee the whole day, nothing....yesterday night she did it in the house, but this morning nothing because finally she did it yesterday evening late night! Such a good girl!
This morning she was crying like a wolf at half past 6, maybe she dreamed, because when we took a look at here and said not good girl, she was a bit scared...
She doesnt like to eat fresh food, I give the others fresh, she throws it on the floor, so she gets dry food.
Such a lovely lovely and beautiful girl! She follows me everywhere, especially to help me cook
We bought her a special orthopedic bed but she likes to lay on the flour, just with a blanket and fleece under her, I think its to hot in a house.
We love her!!!! Thank you for such a lovely girl!

Congratulations on homing Mandy - what a lucky girl.
Greyhounds make wonderful pets, they are loyal, affectionate, lazy - the list goes on and once you have had one there is no other dog like it.
I've had my girl Cara coming up for 2 years now - she lives with a staffy and 2 chihuahuas (all boys), they cuddle up together and are the best of pals.
Look forward to hearing more about her as she settles down to life in Belgium.

Hi Lindsay
Congratulations on adopting Mandy. I was at the kennels (collecting Angel, now called Willow) when the people who help re-home some greyhounds in Belguim arrived at the same time. I'm so glad she is settling and you love her! They take a little while to completely settle, but do quickly get used to the wide world outside of kennels and racing, especially home comforts, love and tickles!
As Pat says, they are very special dogs.
Keep us updated of her progress, it's lovely to hear about them.
Sue

Hi Pat, thank you very much for saving our Mandy. For as much as we see now, she is a very fantastic hound. Just a little bit shy outside but so so sweat to us. And learning quick, no fair of the vacuum cleaner or other stuff in the house...but very interested in cats at the street. So I keep her very close to me. I'm still a little bit nervous for my 2 little dogs, they are not so friendly to her sometimes. I hope she will not eat them... I can see that her brothers/sisters are still in the race. Wondering myself why Mandy didnt do any races? Washn't she fast or good enough? Hope u can save her brothers and sisters when the time is there and many many others. You are doing great great things.
Everything alright with Abraham who was in the kennel with Mandy? Poor boy that he's left behind now.

Hi Lindsay your dogs are trying to be boss at the moment because Mandy is the new girl and they want to show her that it is their house, this will soon settle and they will become friends, I see the lovely Dominique in the picture, she is so lovely, mandy did race at Romford but she was not as good as her owners wanted so they retired her.We have always 55 dogs at the kennels so always looking for new homes for them.Well done in taking mandy, have loads of fun with her. pat
