Tonight I took Jimmy to go and meet Harry for a lovely walk in West Ham Park. Some of you might have seen Matt's post about Harry being a bit nervous of going on walks. Quite understandable, I think I would be if I had never seen cars, kids, bikes etc before. Harry wagged when he saw Jimmy and they had a few sniffs of eachother. Then off we went! Poor Harry, it seems that all loud noises seem to happen when he goes for his walk from loud cars to gates slamming. He dealt with it well and we kept going. He calms when he gets a fuss from Matt which shows how much he is at ease with his new owners. Jimmy didn't want to leave and tried to get in the house as our walk came to an end. He is a nosey devil! I am so pleased I got to see Harry again. He is a lovely dog and he is doing so well and is very much loved! We will be doing it again and next time Jimmy might get to play in the garden. If he is well behaved! Lol! Thanks Matt for sorting the walk out with me. Caz. Xxx

Caz, it was so lovely to see you and Jimmy. He's such a friendly dog. Made me want to get another one! It was great to see Harry interacting with him and having another greyhound there definitely helped his confidence.
I think the park got a bit much for him in the end - too many footballs and cricket balls flying about - but it was good to take him on a longer walk with his new friend. He definitely slept well last night and funnily enough, we had no trouble getting him out in the garden for a quick wee before bedtime. It's usually a military operation just to get him out of bed and to the back door.
Looking forward to next time. And Pia, it would be great to meet you and your two if you fancied bringing them over as well. We'd love that. I'd also love to take Harry on one of your walks. Just want to build his confidence up a bit more first. X

Matthew
You will come to realise that Greyhounds are addictive.
How is Harry settling in? Is he letting you sleep in longer?

He's much better now, thanks Ian. We taught him how to do the stairs about 10 days ago and since then, he comes up to the bedroom at about 5.30 and sleeps there until we get up. He doesn't follow us up at bedtime though - I think he likes his own bed downstairs!
IHe loves going upstairs which I'm happy about as it's more places for him to go and chill out. It's just getting him down that's the problem. He can do it fine when his dinner is ready but suddenly develops a heavy bum if he knows it's time for a walk!
It feels like we've had him forever so we forget sometimes what progress he's made in just 6 weeks.
