Although it's only a month since we celebrated Ollie's gotcha day, we now have another magnificent milestone - Ollie is 12 years old today.
Since his gotcha day, age has caught up with Ollie and he's become a little frail and wobbly - he has good days and bad days, but is a contented little hound and is making the best of the luxuries on offer. I don't know what's ahead, so we'll just cherish every day and feel blessed that we've come this far together.
You'll all know Ollie's story - rescued from starvation and neglect just over three years ago, it's been a labour of love to get him back to condition. Like all labours of love, the rewards have been priceless and I would do it all over again for the sheer joy of seeing Ollie at peace.
Ollie has had a quiet day of snoozes and cuddles - he's not a big eater (long story) so there's no point in my baking special treats, but we have shared some digestive biscuits, a bit of steak and some custard - it'll never be a winning combination on Masterchef!
Please raise a glass (or a cup of tea) to my little boy - a very special survivor

Ollie says "thank you" for his birthday wishes - although he had a quiet day, he had a distinct "morning after" look about him yesterday - maybe he went celebrating on the town with his pals while I was asleep! He has a complicated parathyroid condition which means he needs extra calcium in his diet - hence the custard (sometimes just milk, milk with cereal or rice pudding!), he's also discovered quiche - it's not a bad life
