Hello Pat and friends at Dunton!
I thought I’d let you known how Jimmy is getting on. Apart from having a squitty bum, which I expected to happen given the upheaval, he seems to have taken to home life! He’s not particularly interested in our cats. They’re not the best of friends yet but he hasn’t growled, whined, chased or lunged at them. The cats are not particularly impressed with him, but they will get over it eventually! Yesterday, after his evening walk, he fell asleep on his cushion whilst our hamster raced around the living room in his hamster ball. Again, Jimmy was not interested. To be honest, my money would be on the hamster in a fight!
We’ve taken him for quite a few walks around the area, to our local park and woods. I’ve kept him on the lead and muzzled and he has politely met a Labradoodle, a Labrador and a small, fluffy dog of indeterminate breed, about the size of a Bichon Frise. The only dog he has wanted to chase was a cocker spaniel, but that was chasing a ball itself at the time. He hasn’t tried to launch at anything whilst he has been on the lead, which is a good start.
The only thing that he hasn’t come to grips with is our stairs. He has followed us upstairs three times, the first two I managed to walk him down, but the third I had to carry him. He was petrified and could not be encouraged to take a step. So off to buy a stair gate today. I was hoping I wouldn't have to, but he’s too heavy for me to carry to many times.
Kind regards,
Ruth, Russ and Tilly
