We've finally made it home with Billy (known as Daz at the kennels) he travelled perfectly in the car, and we made just one stop. Billy is a little bit of a 'scaredy cat' but not too bad, his confidence will build as we go along. He's had some water here and has eaten a little food and had what dog trainers call grade A treats, in this case cocktail sausages. We also managed to get him upstairs once using the technique we used when we first had Sean. That was to take him up and down on the lead and we treated him at the top. He's been good as gold with Maggie our Cocker Spaniel, who is 'busy beyond belief' and perfect with the cats, he's sniffed one and been hissed at which sent him on his way. At the moment he won't come and lay in our living room, I have a sneaking suspicion that it's the Xmas tree that's the issue, not sure, but even cocktail sausages won't tempt him in - but I'm sure in time he'll be in here with us. He's had a nice walk round the block here tonight, and tomorrow morning we'll be out on the Northam Burrows with Troy, my friends Greyhound, there he'll see Sheep and loads of other dogs, big and small. So all in all it's a cracking start!

Good luck with him Mark! He is a lovely hound and I'm sure with a little bit of work he will settle in happily and not be a scaredy cat. Merry Christmas! Pia x

He's a lovely boy Mark. There's lots for him to settle into - another dog, a cat, a small person - eek! I'm sure he'll settle well.

However he's been brave enough to come in to be stroked now briefly and he's also done the first part of our stairs by himself several times, he's just got to brave the second bit comprising five steps.

I must have missed you today Mark!
In so happy Billy has such a good home, he is lovely. I remember him jumping up and putting his paws on my shoulders almost giving me a proper hug. I know this isn't probably seen as the best doggy behaviour but it had me in stitches. He couldn't see what the problem was and wasn't fussed on a walk, just some affection. I am sure you have a future full of love from him.

We had an easy night, a bit of pacing but that was it. Both dogs are now back upstairs with us again having wee'd and poo'd in the case of one. They're both currently tucking into raw hide bones which are great for helping keep teeth tartar free.
Hi Caz, yes I think we missed each other, it was a bit of a whistle stop tour trying to catch up with everyone, although I'm hoping to get back summer time to do the dog show this year.

lovely photo, charlotte is so like Emma, beautiful pat Just as well she looks like Emma, rather than me...LOL! When I went out walking with my friend who lives in Westward Ho! as usual on Monday, I discovered the sad news that she had to have her Greyhound PTS whilst we were away, so we find ourselves in the strange scenario where our roles have reversed and now I have a Greyhound a she doesn't. Troy was diagnosed with a cancer that had taken hold in a front shoulder and he was in great pain. I believe she will get another hound in the new year.
