Just wanted to say hello to everyone and it's been so lovely to see all your beautiful hounds. I was lurking for a short while but thought it may be time to introduce myself and my greys. I have 2 females from the Isle of Skye RGT called Dizzy (Kingshill Girl) aged 9 and Kirstie (Kirstys Lass) aged 8. We also had a beautiful boy lurcher called Stuart but sadly he crossed rainbow bridge 2 weeks ago aged 12. The vets couldn't tell me what happened to him, I assume it was just his time he is sorely missed but I must say reading about everyone's lovely greyhounds has cheered me and my partner up. We've had the girls since 2008 but this is the first time I've noticed the forums so I look forward to learning more about this fabulous breed and continuing to laugh at the stories about their silly antics. Hi Becca and girls
I am owned by Tommy who has been with me 7 weeks now, he is my second greyhound, sadly my boy Prince passed 7 months ago. You could say Tommy chose me as he know I needed cheering up and every day he puts a smile on my face and is healing my heart. welcome to the forum its lovely having new members. love the picture they are such beauties. looking forward to more pics and stories. Hello Diane and handsome Tommy! I'm so to hear about Prince It hurts to the core when a furry friend gets taken and I offer my heartfelt condolences. Greys seem to know when we need cheering up though, dizzy has become very clingy and cuddles in a lot more than she did before Stu left us. They are such sensitive creatures Thankyou very much for that warm welcome, I look forward to reading and telling some stories. Don't get me started on photos however I've taken so many of the fur-babies over the years you'd think I'd given birth to them myself haha

Hello Heidi, Leigh and Hilary Nice to meet you also and I'm sorry you've suffered a loss too, hounds leave such a hole in your heart when they go only another one fills it. Finding it tempting to look on the RGT skye website but I know deep down its not the right time for me or the girls to be accepting a new face in the pack. Looking forward to reading about you and what you get up to little Heidi ?

Silly keyboard that was supposed to be a dog face icon at the end! My apologies.

Hi Becca Welcome to the forum, nice to see your lovey hounds, sorry to hear about Stuart, it's like losing a member of the family when they go.
We have 2 greys, Brennan aged 7 (and who we've had for 4 and a half years) and Nellie aged 9 (who we've had for just over 3 years) and we love them to bits. Like many people on here I suffer form a greyhound addiction!! Most people on the forum live in Essex, although we live in London, but I think you are the furthest in Bonnie Scotland!
But as you say, it's always nice to hear about the antics of the hounds. Look forward to hearing more about your 2. Sue

Hi Becca
Welcome to the forum.
Previously I've had a lurcher and 2 greyhounds (I love sight hounds, they are big but so gentle). Cara, a lovely black beauty, is my third greyhound. She's been with us almost six months and lives with a 3 legged chihuahua and a handsome brindle staffie boy. I also look after my daughter's black brindle staffie bitch while she's as work, so it can be quite lively at times.
Cara and I do the school run, she now has a fan club and the kids line up to make a fuss of her.
Look forward to reading more post from you.

Thankyou for a lovely welcome ladies I hadn't realised I'd joined the Essex RGT forum but I don't think it'll matter too much, so grand to hear about other needle noses where ever they may stay. They should possibly start a Greyhound Anonymous site as I'm sure I'd qualify with that addiction too! Haha they are so more-ish! Oh PatShep you sound like you have such a wonderfully mixed pack! And I've always loved the black beauties, so sleek and pretty if I knew how hard they find it to get forever homes at the time I got the girlies I would have looked for a shiney lassie myself. Also I'm sorry if this is forward but I think I read in another of your posts one of your doggies was sired by head/top honcho? Dizzys sire was head honcho and she is a massive scaredy pup too. If I miss read that I apologise. Looking forward to getting to know everyone and hearing all about your sweet greys. Becca, Kirstie and Dizzy.

Welcome to the forum - I'm Sue and I make jam, lots of jam, around 500 jars a year! I donate almost all of the jam to charity - mainly greyhoundhomer - it's a shame that you're too far away to snaffle a jar from a Greyhoundhomer stall :-D
I have two lovey greyhounds - 9 year old big scaredy wuss jellyboy Ty (the name says it all really) and my lovely old boy Ollie, rescued from horrible neglect and starvation but now over 11 and enjoying his old age. I'm also step-mum to an extended pack of my friend's hounds and auntie to as many greyhounds as will let me :-)

Hi Sue wow that's a LOT of jam!! I have an extreme liking for Jam and always looking to try new ones, a pitty I live all the way up here but I feel I may have a life line I can use...... I have family who now stay in Portsmouth so if I can time it right I can pop past and visit a stall and buy some of your famous jam! Mmm! Haha! I love Ty's name he sounds like a proper darling! And it's so lovely Ollie is having an enjoyable retirement, poor boy sounds like he's had it so rough Dizzy was rescued from starvation and appalling conditions too but you wouldn't think it to see her she's such a cuddly, loving beastie

Hi Becca,
Fizz and Cara had Top Honcho and Rainbow High as their grandparents, while Top Honcho was Lily's sire. I 'm quite happy for you to read my posts. I like looking at the pedigrees to see whos who. There is a thread on here called Pedigree Lines (I think it comes under General - Page 8. Last updated May 2014). You can add your 2 girls and also see who is 'related'.
Like you I am remote from the nerve centre, a mere 45 miles. The Forum is a good way to keep in touch.

Thankyou I'll have a look at that, it would be really interesting to see if Dizzy has any more relations living in England Going by the info I've got on her it looks like she was Top Honchos granddaughter, same as Fizz and Cara. Top Honcho was a busy boy! I'd include Kirstie's family tree but nobody knows anything about her lineage poor wee orphan! Very much enjoying the forum I must admit, I am fairly new to computers in general but not finding it half as daunting as I thought I would also finding it a great way to talk to people I wouldn't meet in everyday life!
