Hello I'm Tricia
we have a lovely new boy, Rossi with a small problem, he pongs as he is continually trumping! Thought he just had nervous stomach from journey home and would settle after couple of days, and he is on same food as kennels, but he still smells like rotten eggs, constantly. His 'deposits' are normal mostly, occasionally bit loose but not badly so, and we have tried given occasional charcoal biscuits to settle his wind; any tips from seasoned owners?!
Thanks, we're thinking of bulk buying gas masks!

Hi Tricia
Congratulations on becoming a greyhound owner. You and I met briefly when I was collecting my new girl last weekend.
I can empathise with your problem, a grey, a staffie and chihuahua asleep and me, sitting back and relaxing when this odour suddenly permeates the atmosphere........ These days I find it doesn't happen as often and I know that if I give them 'extras' such as leftovers it can set them off. Until recently I have fed all my dogs Greyhound Maintence but when my late Lily was unwell I bought off the Greyhounderhomer website some of the super duper dog food recommended by the RGT from Dobson & Horrell . Before accepting my order they offered me a sample - it may be worth trying before buying. Since then I have not noticed any unpleasant odours and instead of gulping their food down the dogs crunch on the kibbles which is good for their teeth. If you scroll down on the home page you will find them. Hope you find a solution.

a couple of years ago we had the same problem and i ended up contacting a few dog food manufactuers and explain the problem most were really helpful and sent dry food samples out for us to try .As a rule the smaller firms were more helpful with some having experts on smelly dogs (that was nt their full title). with the wonders of the internet it is so easy to contact these people .Good luck, ps there is a army surplus store in southend that do a good line in second hand gas masks.

We were told that a tablespoon of natural bio yoghurt in the dogs food helps digestion. We give it to Ben with his wheetabix for breakfast and he has no wind at all.
