Hi Does anyone know anywhere in Essex where you can let your dogs off for a run in an enclosed area. I do not mind paying but struggling to find anywhere safe where the beasties are not going to get the scent of something and leg it! Lost two on Marlow Beach in Wales for an hour in October they were pretending to be deaf! Where I am there are badgers, rabbits and foxes as well as hares and the main roads are not far enough away for me to feel safe they are too precious and have no recall. I'd even looked into trying to buy or rent but small parcels of land even agricultural are a fortune in the south east. Thanks Vicky

Hi Vicky Their is a safe area in southend, it called the millennium park. It is inbetween the old and new 127 near the big Tesco`s. It is enclosed and a lot of greyhounds go there between 1pm and 2 pm in the afternoon. Plus next door is a owner of 2 greyhounds who is a lovely lady to chat to she works with racing greyhounds aswell. There is only one gate in/out and everyone who uses it are very good at making sure no dog gets out while they enter. there is seating area and a few trees in it. I use to take my boy there, but now he is older he won`t make the walk.so haven`t been there for a few yrs. but do know of people with there greyts still go. I know we're in Surrey but there is a standing invitation to our paddock - it's only an acre but more than enough for some zoomies!
Our hounds, once they've had the first zoomie, tend to ignore it completely and are far more interested in the quality bedding available indoors, but it's nice to know it's there if they do get the urge to run :-D

My husband dropped me off at cherry orchard. Its at the back of the big tescos on the 127 heading towards rochford. I use to go there a lot with sarah and baby as they had an enclosed paddock to safely let your greyts off the lead (lovely in the summer. Anyway they decided to put a load of trees in it so was very dangerous for the dogs to avoid with out hurting themselves. Having been back after a very long time they have now built another enclosed paddock to the left of the car park and it is a lot bigger.as it was very windy I didn`t get a chance to inspect all around it, I know it has 3 closed gates. If there is anyone going over there please could they check it out to confirm it is safe. It will be wonderful if they have. Its a lovely walk over there.
