Hello! I live in Cornwall with Inky (Flying Bruno) who adopted us in June 2009. He took to retirement and home life very well indeed, and is of course extremely lazy; spending most of his time stretched out on the sofa or in one of his beds. He is our big baby and our best friend. It's good to have access to this forum, now that Inky is 8 years of age it ill be very helpful to ask questions here regarding any health niggles that may arise - At present he has a suspected corn . Kind regards to all, Gemma

Welcome Gemma
I am Sue the Jam - so called because I make a lot of jam for charity - mainly donated to Greyhoundhomer! I currently have two hounds - big scaredy wuss jellyboy Ty who raced as "Garryglass Tyson" and Ollie aka Oliver Trueheart whom we think raced as "out the game". I am aunty and step-mummy to an extended pack of friend's hounds and you'll get to know us via our dog blogs - some greyhounds are talented authors :-)

Welcome to the forum, Gemma. You will hopefully find it very informative, there are several threads(going back quite a long time) on corns.
Inky looks very much like our Brennan, who is 6, although looks quite a lot older (it must be the hard life he has with us, all that sleeping all day!) We also have Nellie, who is 8 and we took on, after she was returned to kennels, after being in a family home for 3 years. As you know, greyhounds are such lovely creatures and very addictive!

Hi Gemma I am owned by Prince, who is 7. I am also foster mum for greyhoundhomer. I have number 7 foster girl with me called Luna. in the kennels she is called Blundell. This is a great forum for any information so you ask away. we will be more than happy to share our knowledge with you. Learning from each other has helped our houndies keep us in check lol Diane

Thank you Sue, Sueb and Diane for the lovely welcome. Yes these houndies are very addictive indeed - we certainly intend to be adopted by a second hound in the near future. I have had a good read through some of the threads relating to corns, and there is certainly a lot of very helpful advice regarding treatment. As we suspect (but are not entirely sure) that Inky's problem is due to a corn, should I post my queries in an existing corn thread, or would it be better if I started a new corn identification/diagnosis thread?
With much thanks and kindest regards,
Gemma

Hi Gemma Welcome to the forum which I just know you will find extremely useful as well as entertaining!! I started off about 18 months ago with Ted (Drakey's Ted)who was what can only be described as an ASBO dog whilst in the kennels and for a while when he took over my home! He chewed all my windowsills, destroyed three mobile phones, two tv remotes and countless letters!!! Now, as a result of patience on my part and him having a 'partner' - Kia - he seems to have turned over a new leaf and is an absolute soppy dream of a hound. Kia never 'hit the track' either because of her small size or possibly her stubborn nature (I suspect the latter!) so she went into a home about five years ago. Due to circumstances (not hers) it was necessary for her to be rehomed so I took her on trial and she became a permanent fixture just 12 hours later!! She is the boss and whatever she wants, Ted gives in and lets her have it - the best bed, the best toys as well as being first in line for strokes!! They are close in age, Ted is 6 and a half and Kia is 7 and a half. It's a completely new world having two or more houndies - you get double the fun as well as double the trouble (at times). I'm sure you will get a lot out of the forum and the one thing I found out very quickly is how friendly and helpful everyone is. Dave

Hi Dave, thank you for the welcome. It sounds like your patient efforts and the addition of a partner/boss hound have worked wonders for Ted. I hope the arrival of a second greyhound will encourage Inky to become more active and playful, however his laziness is highly contagious! He has had a couple of 'play dates' with a friend's greyhound, but all we end up with is two sleeping hounds on the floor whilst the humans gently prod them in a futile attempt to encourage interaction! On the plus side his extreme laziness means chewing things up and being naughty has always been far too much effort for him! Kindest regards, Gemma

Hi Gemma,
Welcome to the forum! I'm probably nearest to you of all the folks on here, I live in Bideford, North Devon, but used to live near to Greyhoundhomer Essex, hence my connection. I'm the odd one out here since I am hound less at the moment. Our dear old Seaney went to Rainbow Bridge in July 2013 and the misses won't let me have another Greyhound. So currently I'm reduced to helping a local retired friend walk her two three times a week and sometimes I collect Troy if we're doing a family walk on the beach and give him some extra time out, like we did this Sunday just gone.

Hi Mark, Thank you for the welcome. I love Devon - we have family in Witheridge and always look forward to visiting the area. I was so sorry to read of Sean's passing - he looks to have been exceptionally beautiful. Kindest regards, Gemma

Hi Gemma,
I live in Cornwall, too... near Camborne. Inky looks a sweetie! We are new adopters and are loving getting to know our girl Crystal. We live dangerously close to the Russet Greyhound Sanctuary and may end up with another addition to the family before we know it LOL!
I'd better go introduce myself properly now as this is my very first post!
Sue
