Don't want to be an alarmist but dog theft is on the increase countrywide. I go on quite a few doggy lost n found sites and I never realised theft was so widespread and it doesn't seem to matter wether it's a pure breed or crossbreed dog. 25/1/2014 a black male patterdale X terrier was stolen from Tesco Pitsea, they do have CCTV of a blonde woman taking him, there have also been a few instances of dogs in cars being stolen from car parks in the South East so just be aware.
