The other day I was merrily polishing the house when I realised Kitty had begun acting really weird, shaking so hard she could barely stand up & running upstairs crying. I then realised I had stupidly picked up fly spray instead of polish - doh! It took her several days to calm down. We decided to throw the fly spray out, which we did do. But, mum-in-law lives in a granny annexe & had been away when 'flygate' happened & I forgot to tell her. So, she used it in her kitchen - obviously she shut the door to our side so Kitty couldn't go in there, but Kitty got a whiff while in the garden & it all happened again. It's as though it triggers some awful memory, it is very upsetting to see her so distressed. Anyone else noticed a similar reaction to fly spray or anything else or have a clue why it may provoke such behaviour?

My husband was a great fan of flykiller and he developed Parkinson disease a neurological condition which ultimately contributed to his death. It is thought that flykiller contributes to Parkinsons. You only need to see what it does to flies. I think it acts on the central nervous system and there have been calls to have it banned. Dogs are much more sensitive to smells than we are so perhaps Kitty associated the smell with how she felt when you sprayed. Flies and fleas don't like lavender, so I dry it in bunches indoors and also put some inside Cassies duvets and under her bedding. Trouble is some people can't stand the smell of lavender, I love it
