My 6yr old boy (Dexter) has a corn on one of his pads. It flared up to the point where he was limping so I took him to my normal vet who at first didn't know what it was (I did as my daughter had diagnosed by using the internet!) the vet after some research advised us to have the pad removed. This concerned me as she offered no preventative measures for his other pads and the surgery sounded horrific. Having spoken to Pat @ Ockenden she advised me not to take the vets advice and come on here for any assistance other Greyhound owners can offer. Since the vets I have limited his walking and the corn has shrunk - we would welcome any cures as he loves his walks, many thanks

Poor Dexter. Gucci uses a Therapaw boot which makes walks much more comfortable for him. It rubbed his paw at first so now he wears a baby sock underneath. Am definitely going to try the Beeswax Cream.

Hi, if you go to the medical section on the forum there's a thread there called corns, corns, the cure.

Hi my boy Bart suffered with corns they wanted to cut his toe off but I was against that, I heard about a vet in Middlesex Daniel J Doherty he has a remedy all his own it takes four weeks of travelling one day a week to get the treatment but it worked and gave him the last years of his life corn free. HI I am still trying the treatment from USA in Corns, corns, corns Teeth my five are now on FRAGARIA 3C and have to say the difference is absolutely stunning! Skin was dry now on Yumega
In fact their "beauty-care" is longer and more expensive than mine... but worth it

Hi Pat - my tub of Bee Protx arrived yesterday. Just wondered - did the article you mentioned have any advice on how or when to apply it? I've been dabbing it on Gucci's corn whenever he's resting but he invariably stands up straight afterwards! Eventually he will have waxed the whole floor!! ;D

Abi, not knowing how financially fixed you are, or where you are, but if I was you I would have the corn surgically removed by a veterinarian who knows what he’s doing. It’s alright trying these remedies to see if anyone has actually stumbled upon the greyhound holy grail of a successful corn treatment, but over all you’re throwing your money into a bottomless pit.. I have had many dog’s with corns and tried many alleged cures, but surgery will do most to resolve the problem. Don’t take the toe off unless a competent greyhound vet says so because the greyhound will be completely stuffed if the adjoining toes grow their own corns, which of course they could. As for the suggestion of taking the pad off, you may still not lose the corn as some are so deep rooted you can only dig them out with a scalpel, so if that's the case, you might has well just take the corn out. There are many vets not up to the job, but Stephano of Greyhound Sports medicine is, Telephone 07947880605, and have it done by a greyhound vet. Bryan
