Welcome to the forum! If you decide to take a greyhound into your home you will find it the best decision you ever made!! They are the most wonderful animals and deserve all the love you can give them. They will give you unconditional love as well as lots of laughs!!!!!

Hi I agree I always wanted a german shepherd then got involved by having a share in racing greyhound I would never even consider another breed now, they give you unconditional love, are funny and basically lazy dogs but you can't help but love them they bring pleasure and comedy to your lives and you never regret it that's for sure. My first boy was Bart who made me laugh and loved us so much, then we took Mersey on after another 4 years, sadly we had to put Bart to to sleep, and Mersey missed him so much we took on Beau, who is a 6 year old puppy with so much love and fun in him, he keeps Mersey young as she runs round with him now. Look forward to update when you have got yours. Chris

hello everyone, Anthony here, new to the forum but not to the wonderful world of the greyhound. my wife lorraine and I with the approval of our existing greyhound fleur have just adopted franco Honour (max) from dunton who we have renamed Idris. We have had greyhounds over the past three years following three and a half years with our dear old Jack russell Lucky who was a rescue from a friend who lost her home. going into the world of greyhounds was quite a culture shock size wise but my wife had already had experience of them with her volunteering at the rgoa when it was in langdon hills. personally i was never that fond of them but after getting up close something told me to give one a chance one day. the day came (the worst in any pet owners life when we said goodbuy to lucky and four weeks later we looked for our first greyhound. I didnt go to the rgoa but somewere else along the 127 that started a love affair with the breed and gave us our first greyhound Merlin. a champion hurdler then three months later our little girl fleur. three happy years with m was cut short at the age of 8.5 years as in january this year he fell ill and was diagnosed with GME. three months of steriods for quality of life but in june he lost his brave fight and we passed with his head on my lap. the bottom of my world dropped out fleur is a comfort but after a wile she began to get depressed being alone. So time to give another one a chance, as thats the best way to honour the one you have lost. Went back to the kennels who we were dealing with and a chain of events came about that ended our ever dealing with them again, all the fundraising, help and support counted for nothing and left us both in shock and sevear upset. We collected ourselves together and I made the effort to find the RGT. emailed pat and here we are we have a lovely boy in idris who plays with his squeeky toys at 12 to 3 am chews things pinches grub ahhh joy. he will make a smashing companion and is adusting to the luxury of home life well. our heartfelt thanks to pat maureen and tom at dunton for the caring and dedication to the hounds and hope fully in our modest way we will be able to fundraise for them. We run a spirtual development and meditation group and we fundraise from that so we will be sponsoring a kennel or two at dunton to help many lovely hounds. Love and light to all anthony and lorraine fleur and idris will post pictures soon.
