Hi all my name is Fred (female) FIrstly I would like to say thank you to Bryan for such a lovely dedication for my dear Indi who I had for such a short while, for seven months we had a great time together long walks, paddling in the sea and cuddles on the bed, I will never forget her my first lovely black shiny grey. I found I could not live without one so now am owned by Keston Arrow new name Lily who after 87 races is such a gentle soul and sleeps on the bed all night. She has just given me a load of shopping bags from the hall and I see there is a wellie boot in her bed she has dried my tears and made me laugh. All the best Bryn hope your dogs are well.

Welcome to Greyhoundhomer and becoming the proud owner of Lily. My black beauty is also called Lily and like your Lily is a bit of a scavenger, I daren't leave anything lying around. That could be in the genes because Top Honcho is 'Daddy'/'Grand-dad' to our lovely girls.
Happiness is being owned by a greyhound - whatever colour.

Welcome to the forum, Fred. Sorry to hear about Indi, sad that you only had her a short time.
But well done on homing Lily, they really have a knack of making you smile, even if you have a heavy heart, don't they?

Welcome Fred to the place that will answer all your questions. I feel for anyone who has just lost a hound, because they become much more "than just a dog". Whatever your circumstance's, a hound snuggled up to you makes your life very worthwhile. Fred wrote: "she has dried my tears and made me laugh" they certainly do that alright, but conversely, you cannot measure what you have done for her. I have just lost one of mine: Charlie whose story is in another section of Greyhoundhomer's Forum. I can honestly say the day I fell into the world of the Greyhound, my life changed so much for the better. Thanks for taking Lilly, she fell on her feet there. Bryan

Hello Fred and welcome to both you and Lily. It's awful when you lose any pet but I think it's a compliment to Indi that you have given Lily a home, sounds like its a case of "let the fun begin".

Hi Fred, and welcome. We love having new members. We were so sorry to hear about Indie when you lost her, and your above, post did bring a lump to my throat. We love our hounds so much that it never realy stops hurting, but Lily will go a long way towards filling that gap. I'm so pleased you were able to take another. Not only have you given Lily a wonderfull home, you made free a kennel space to help another hound. Well done. Hazel

I lost my Dolly just about a year ago and I was heartbroken. A week or so later Ted took me on and he has been such a wonderful friend since day one. He makes me laugh every single day and is my constant companion. Although I still get a lump in my throat when I think of my Dolly in no time at all Ted cheers me up somehow.
Greyhounds are the most wonderful animals you can imagine as they just seem to have that ability to 'engulf' your life and yet ask for little, apart from pure love (and of course treats and the best sleeping places!).
Welcome to the group Fred (and Lily of course!) and I hope we meet up one day. I see our group as 'family' as everyone is so friendly and always willing to advise or help out in some way.

Hi Fred. Welcome to the forum and congratulations on homing Lily. I had the pleasure of knowing her during her race career. She's a lovely girl. Hope you have lots of fun with her. By the way, I'm owned by a beautiful black bitch called Betty. Nicky

Hi Fred
As you may have guessed, my name is Sue and I make jam - usually 500 - 800 jars per year which I donate to greyhoundhomer to sell at their events!
After a tragic 2012, during we lost 3 of our beloved hounds, we're now down to two - big scaredy wuss jellyboy Ty (says it all really!) and little Ollie - both adorable black boys (Ty is huge and Ollie is tiny).

Hi Fred
As you may have guessed, my name is Sue and I make jam :-) I have a big garden with several productive fruit trees so I usually make around 600 jars per year which I mainly donate to greyhoundhomer to sell at their events!
After a tragic 2012, during which we lost 3 of our beloved hounds, we're now down to two - big scaredy wuss jellyboy Ty (says it all really!) and Little Ollie - both adorable black boys (Ty is huge and Ollie is tiny). You'll get to know them - Ty has been known to blog and we have regular guest hounds who also have a lot to say for themselves!
