Hi everyone, We collected sharons legend this morning and his first day with us has been great. He has done and seen so many new things and he took it all in his stride. We got the train home and he managed to go up and down the stairs at the station with no problems. He wasn't too keen on the train, so we got off at Leigh and walked back to Southend along the seafront. He walked so well I was able to push the buggy at the same time as holding his lead. Arriving home he took a good look round, had some water and flumped out on his bed for an hour. He has coped with a noisy, boisterous toddler who leaves her toys all over the place and a cantankerous old cat. He has told us when he needs to go out for a wee and had just basically been brilliant. His personality has started to show though and he has taken a shine to a cuddly toy Lemur that has migrated into his bed several times ;D We only have one problem - we cant think of a name for him Nothing seems right, so before my partner is driven to distraction by my endless suggestions, any help would be hugely appreciated. I would like to say a massive than you to Pat for all her advice, help and our gorgeous boy who is currently taking up more floor space by my feet than I thought possible!!! Stephanie

It sounds like Jolly has his paws well and truly under the table. It is hard to choose a name. We tried several before settling on Betty. It was my husbands choice. She is named after the song 'Black Betty'! ;D Hopefully we'll see you on some of the walks. We had one in Southend during half term. It was rather wet and windy but there were still 12 of us. We are hoping to do it again in the Easter holiday. Watch out under 'walking the dog'. Look forward to seeing some photos on here. You'll find we are a very friendly bunch Nicky

Hi Stephanie,
Sounds like he is being spoilt already, well done you for taking on one of the best breeds, you will have years and years of happiness if he is anything like my boy.
My Frank was called Frankie Strutton when he raced so I kept his name as Frankie, he never knew his name when I adopted him so really you can rename him anything you like, we at the kennels always knew him as Jolly.
They are amazing, everyday you will see his personality develop and he will learn a new life as you will, have fun with him, love him and he will give you so much joy and love back, unconditionally.
We need to see some photo's.
Alison

Hiya, Thanks for your messages. Trying to upload some photos but my laptop keeps freaking out every time I do. I'm working on it. Would love to come and meet up for a walk. I've never owned a greyhound (or should I say been owned by a greyhound) before, so i'm looking forward to doing all sorts for greyhoundie activities Stephanie

Hey well done on taking sharons legend! I am owned by "cunning bertie" so we kept his name as bertie/bert/flirty bertie!! They really are beautiful dogs! I don't know any name suggestions, once I have seen a picture I shall suggest some if you don't mind :-)

Hi Stephanie First, congratulations on adopting such a lovely dog. I think you are a star - coping with a new greyhound, a toddler & buggy, stairs, and a train!!! Re. a name for sharons legend - I like the name he had in the kennels. I looked up Jolly in the dictionary, it says joyful. jovial, pleasant, delightful, jolly good fellow. Sums up your new pal in one word. Your new hound will give you so much pleasure.

Morning all, Thanks for putting up that picture Mark - he is a stunner We have decided on a new name for him. After trying out about 100 names over the last 24 hours, one has really stuck and seems to really suit him. He is going to be called... George Stephanie

He is an absolute beauty. Very handsome. And well done and congratulations on rehoming him. Personally 'Jolly' i would not be calling in the local park At least, not round here! ;D But each to their own. However, if he was mine, and again each to their own, i would call him 'Rex' also meaning 'King' As said each to their own though, but aside from trivialities, as said, congratulations, and may you spend many happy years together, and looking forward to seeing pics and posts of his progress over the years. Well done. He's a beauty. Andy x
