Hi, Oh boy, what a first week you have had with your hounds!!! I'm so pleased to hear that Trixie is on the mend now. If it's any help, we had a bit of an unsettled start with our girl, Mousha, including her having a horrific accident and going missing!! However, I can assure you that things did settle down and now she is an absolute dream Take care x

Hi all. She's home now. Yes Pat you are right insurance required indeed! She has severed the chest muscle completely and had to be sewn back together inside then out. She is on anti biotics for 6 days and pain killers. She had her drains removed yesterday and stitches should be out next week sometime. Taking her back to the vet Friday to ensure no major swelling occurs. She's eating well although I do have a few probs getting the tablets down (no good hiding them in food as she still spits them out). Bright is a star and I am so glad we have him. Thanks for all your best wishes. Will keep you posted. J.xx

Lots of love to Trixie and here's hoping she makes a speedy recovery.
I had a similar problem re taking tablets with Ted. In the end I turned it into a game by rolling the tablets in a piece of Kraft cheese slice and making it into balls - some had a bit of tablet in and some not. I would feed him a 'decoy' one first and then a 'spiked' one. In the end he was watching me make the balls of cheese! I reckon he just pretended he didn't like talking tablets just to get his favorite treat!!

So sorry to hear about Trixie, poor her. Also poor you, you really have had a baptism of fire! Hope she'll soon be bouncing around. Re tablets, agree with Dave about balls of cheese, my 2 swallow them whole like that. But if she really refuses, you can place the tablet towards the back of the mouth and then hold their jaw shut...(you can do this quite firmy, but gently) and then lift their head up, tilting it upwards while at the same time rubbing underneath the mouth towards the throat. They have to swallow when you do that! I think a vet taught me that many years ago when we had a cat who would never take tablets, no matter how disguised.

Hi all. Just to let you know that Trixie had to undergo another major op last Wednesday as all her stitches fell out. Another surgeon removed all her internal stitches and put big strong ones on the outside. She has been losing tissue fluid for a few days and has been on 2 strong lots of anti biotics (ha ha another chore getting them down) and pain relief - in her food. She is improving now and is jumping around the kitchen. She can go out for walks but in the garden is on the lead until I get the ok from the vet. We have ditched the lampshade and replaced it with a T shirt - very fitting - all she needs now is a 59-fifty hat and a pair of shades. All happy here. Hounds have really settled and both parties are enjoying life. Bright however is hunting our visiting hedgehog at night - I go into the garden first with a torch and see if he's in. If Bright finds it he picks it up in his jaws and brings it to the back door! Hope you are all well. Regards. Jxx
