It is with great sadness that I made the decision to have Buddy PTS tonight his back legs were just unable to take his weight. I had always promised that when he could no longer do the walk it would be time. He was 13 1/2 and the best companion but the quality was gone and he was being carried up and down stairs .. on the flat until tonight had been OK I wanted to share this with you as I know that you will all understand the great sadness and black hole I feel at this time

Awwwhh ! So sorry to read about Buddy. We all understand how you are feeling right now. Most of us have all been there at some time or other, and you have been very brave, and done the best you could for your boy. Run free at Rainbow Bridge dear Buddy, and be young and strong again with all your new friends. Hazel, Grace, Spring and Pluto xx

Buddy reached a grand age, but I guess that just means that the gap he leaves behind is bigger.
My heart goes out to you - it is such a painful time...

thank you all so much, I knew you'd understand the loss. The rest of the pack are very quite tonight as if they know. Each grey is so different and special I'd meet Buddy in 2002 when collecting blood donors for Ollie who had leukaemia. Buddy's blood was the wrong type but I promised him that if Ollie did not make it I would go back for him ......6 days later he was on his way home with me we have not been apart except for one 2 week holiday in 2005. I know it was time to say good bye he was starting to suffer it just never stops the pain of the loss....

So sorry to hear about Buddy yes most of us have been there I had to have my Bart PTS last year it's the hardest decision to make but the kindest for him, but as you say the void they leave is terrible, Mersey missed him so much that we finally got Beau he will never take Barts place as they are all unique but he has eased the pain for all of us. After a long time the pain eases with the lovely memories that you have had with them.
Run free on rainbow bridge and I am sure Bart will be there to play with Buddy and all of their other friends. Chris
