Hello everyone I'm Jo I live on the Dorset coast and I have two hounds, Paddy and Tracy. Trace I've had two and a half years and Pad about 18 months and they both come from a Rescue in Fleet I go on loads of organised walks with greys and lurcher rescues to the beaches near us and in The New Forest which is fantastic socialising for the dogs Hoping to go on an RGT walk next Sunday at a gorgeous beach location near Christchurch. Trace is a therapy dog and I'm so proud of her but she's recently been diagnosed with arthritis by the vet so hoping to get advice, experiences from other owners on here who have hounds in the same position. Tracy is 8 in August. Paddy is a very keen dog who does like to have a stare-off with cats, squirrels, hedgehogs ,foxes etc etc .......... lol Jo

Hi jo Welcome to the forum,as Diane said we are a helpful forum with all sorts of things it's good to know others have been through experiences and how they have come through them. I have two hounds Mersey who is 9 this month and Beau who is 5, Beau has only been home for 9 months as we lost our boy Bart last June, Mersey missed him so much we felt we had to give another lovely hound a home, Beau is lovely but so accident prone as he thinks he is a puppy apart from being as Diane said 45mph couch potato. Look forward to hearing more about Paddy and Tracy, we give Mersey Glucosamine twice a day it seems to help with her joints. Chris

Hi Jo
I am a totally failed fosterer and have somehow ended up with four adorable hounds - Lou (top brindle girl aged 9); Ty (big scaredy wuss jellyboy aged 6); Poppy (that's princess Poppy to you! aged 10) and Ollie (quietly dignified gentleman aged 9).
All of ours are medical miracles, having trawled all of the rarest disease in the dictionary before presenting them to the vet!
We love them to bits though!

Hi Jo. Ask your vet if Cartrophen will help. One of my bitches (Lady) has an injection once a month together with daily dose of Glucosamine and Chondroitin. Has worked wonders. Best wishes Chris

Thanks folks for the welcome, as I said I'm hoping to go on an RGT Dorset and Somerset walk on Sunday (hoping the rain is not too terrible) if anyone is going, I have one white and one black hound. Thanks for the heads up on Cartrophen injections funnypoppet, the meds Tracy has so far haven't made a big difference but early days Jo
