I'm devastated to report that Lynx was killed this evening in a freak fall while running around my mother-in-law's garden - we're not too sure what happened but the vet says he broke his neck and would have died instantly without pain. We've written about him here: indigodream.wordpress.com/2012/01/15/dog-blog-leaway-lynx-1-september-2004-15-january-2012/Lynx was a great character and the thought of facing tomorrow (and the rest of the tomorrow's) without him is currently unbearable - but bear it we must - as we have before when we lost Honey, and Indie and our beloved first greyhound Blue a scant 18 months ago.... I hope Lynx will find Blue at the rainbow bridge and get up to boy mischief together.... Hug your hounds - they are so very precious......

Oh God! I haven't been on here for a bit (as a close friend is dying) but logged on this morning to see your dreadful news.
Sue, Richard, and to Lou and Ty We were all so shocked and terribly sorry to hear about poor poor Lynx, you must all be devastated. I can't believe we will never see him again on your boat at some point, but I'm sure that he will always be with you in spirit on Indigo Dream, looking out and helping you at the helm! He was indeed a very special dog, not just because of his handsomeness, wonderfully soft, strokeable ears but also his joy and impishness. He was sweet to Brennan, too giving him so much confidence to sprawl in 2 pubs without any fear and letting him finish his dinner.
Tragic and premature though it is, he didn't suffer at the end and was doing what he enjoyed- rummaging. Our thoughts are with you, Sue & Richard. We hope you will be able to take solace in knowing that you gave Lynx a lovely foster home, then permenant home, where he flourished and in time the memories will be comforting, rather than painfull.
Run free at Rainbow Bridge, lovely boy, with Blue and all the other lovely pals, but you will be missed by many "hoomans" and your houndie friends.
Much love Sue, Tony, Rachel, Ellie, and your friend Brennan XXX

Hi Sue,
Terrible news indeed. My thoughts are with you and your family. I read many of the Lynx tales and he sounded a true character, as everyone agrees he will be sorely missed and always loved.

Sue/Richard I too lost my Sammy unexpectedly when he died of a heart attack while on a local walk. The shock and disbelief that your dog you loved has gone is so very hard to come to terms with. I know just how you feel and what you are going through. I still have my memories, so in my mind he is still here with me. I can't say how sorry I am to see this. My thoughts are with you and as you and others have said, I hope you can take some small comfort that he went doing what he loved.
