Hi all.. long time no post.
I'm thinking of taking the hounds to Frinton on Sea beach tomorrow (9th October). Has anyone been there with dogs? Whats it like?
Thanks!

It's lovely - nice long greensward to stroll along. Easy parking if you are there early enough. You can take dogs on the beach during certain times but check first - there are usually notices up. Good toilet facilities and some nice shops in the High Street - not sure if they are open on Sundays though. A few tea shops and a nice ice cream place. Have fun, wish we could join you but already committed elsewhere. Have fun xx

brilliant day! ;D the tide was out, soft beaches and even better, high promenade and steep steps to put off the dogs from running too far or off the beach. We couldnt let Ozzie off the lead, he doesnt run but goes in to his own little world and wanders.... but jeddie we know only runs until she sees a barrier, and even the low groins in to the sea were enough. So Jeddie was allowed off the lead, first time in ages and she loved it, running around on the damp sand must have felt good, then surprised us both by actually running in to the sea! I swear she was smiling. Ozzie was on the extending lead, but it turns out is scared of waves... The only bad thing was a little yappy dog thought she would run 20 yards to surprise attack and growl at Jeddie, so Jeddie panicked. We put her back on the lead after, as Jeddie doesnt give many 2nd chances & she wouldnt have stood for it a 2nd time. Happily, a group of strollers saw what had happened and made a big fuss of Jeddie, which she loved. Greyhounds get all the attention, never heard a bad word said about them even by non dog owners. It was a good 2 mile walk, and they slept the whole journey back (theres a surprise..) Frinton beaches are open to dogs from October to end of April, and are very good, with plenty of free freshwater taps for dog bowls, loos (and lots of dog litter bins!) and free parking. No amusements or beach shops deter the chavs and it was just families, dogs and general walkers making the most of a nice Autumn afternoon on an old fashioned English beach. Frinton only has one pub, no arcades, so is great for a traditional seaside visit. If you want cafes etc. for lunch then Walton on the Naze is two minutes down the road, so its not completely quiet around there.

was great, and of course the weather helped, a comfortable 20c with a breeze, so not too hot. Jeddie is 9 and a half now, but loves a run still. We went from Romford up the A12, took about an hour. Not sure where you are, but get there earlyish i guess (having said that, we got there about 12pm, and spaces on the sea road and still loads at 2.30 when we left). Nice place, and around Essex theres not many (if any)coves where you can let a dog off safely. If you know of a beach enclosed by cliffs where greys can run without fear of dissapearing , then let me know!
