So far the most exciting antic seems to be sleeping on a fur rug :-)

6 weeks on and I thought I'd give you an update. Patrick has made himself very much at home. He has mastered the art of entry and exit to the car and loves coming out with us. Daddy is also pleased that Patrick is now tentatively learning to go up and down stairs as at 31kgs he was a bit heavy to lift. He (Patrick not Daddy) now sleeps on a very well padded bed next to ours and is an excellent alarm clock, starting to wake us with little squeaks, building into gentle little yowls and then eventually when we do not get up, a couple of barks! If we have left him in the house, while going shopping, we are greeted on our return with squeals of excitement and the fastest windmill tale wagging ever! He is still a little anxious round little dogs but he endears himself to visitors to the house with his gentle approach. Each day he is displaying more and more of his character and we absolutely adore him. FYI I also rang Crayford to get any further information about him and they tell me he was a little star! Apparently, he liked to travel to the track in a tyre and has been featured in a newspaper article which they are going to send along with some DVD's. If anyone from the track is on this forum, thank you - you've been really helpful and friendly.

Thanks Pat(sy) (sorry for the pun). We did get a photo from Paul Duffett but it would be lovely to hear more about our boy before retirement so any news appreciated.

What a small world. We were at a little dog show on Saturday in Braintree town centre. A friend of ours was judging it so we went along for moral support but decided not to take Patrick. We were standing chatting to our friend with one of her greys and stroking another greyhound someone else had brought along. A young girl came up and we got talking greyhounds and it transpired she had had a racing dog of her own, I told her about Patrick and that he had come from Ockenden - she asked what his racing name was and then said "I don't believe it, that's one of Patsy Cusacks dogs, he is my uncle!". Bit spooky!

You could try taking him upstair on the lead, that's how we got Sean doing the stairs, then eventually we were able to get him to go up without the lead. Every time he went up and down successfully he got a small bit of cheese. Like Patrick, Sean is a bit of a heavy lump, so I can sympathise with you there carrying him up and down.

Come on you budding inventors, a greyhound stair lift comes to my mind (glad I live in a bungalow), there would of course have to be a bed attached somehow Yvonne

Patrick has gone up and down stairs but he is so tentative I think we are scared he might fall. We are getting there but it's slow and not entirely sure footed. lol

I live in a single storey Villa-ette, aka Bungalow too However, never really gave it much thought until we visited a friends Guest house in Wiltshire a year or so back. A 15th Century farm house. We had Ruthie and Jet at the time. And they had never seen stairs before. However within a matter of minutes they were up and down like a fiddler's elbow Then of course we got Sonny and Kristin. Sonny has learnt the art of stairs, but can't be bothered on the whole. He's quite happy with ground floor We sometimes take them to Martin's mum in Surrey, and as said Sonny is quite happy laying on his bed in the living room, but the two girls (and similar to Ruthie, before them) are up and down those stairs, rushing into his mother's bedroom at the crack of dawn and waiting there, poised until she wakes up then it's cold wet noses, licks and kisses etc, as they do

I have been with my new family now for almost twelve weeks and I am really enjoying my new world. Mum and Dad took me to Abberton Reservoir today - I saw two huge white things, Mum said were Swans!!!!!!!! I got very excited and squealed a lot. When we came home Dad cooked us all some supper - that steak stuff tastes very yummy. After my supper, I sneaked into the sitting room and found a lovely rug and went to sleep. Apparently it was on a sofa!!!!!!! That's me sorted....I found the bed last week and now this ...............doggy heaven! If I wait on the kitchen mat long enough, I might just get some samples!!!!First sleeps on the sofa. Am I a lucky boy?
