Yesterday I came home from work and Ruby had a really nasty tear on the underside of her jaw, so I took her to the vets and she has to go in today to have a GA and have it stitched up.
We do not know how it happened, whether she caught herself or whether Tia and Ruby had a disagreement. Charlie boy was in his crate so is totally exempt on this occasion.
Ruby spent the night in our bedroom as I did not want the others to bother her and she was an angel . I took her into the vets this morning and when she realized I was not going with her she cemented her feet to the floor and had to be dragged through into the vets room, I left at this point as I was getting upset
We are still in shock as this latest episode is going to cost approx £800 . I think we should have shares in medivets

Do you have insurance? We're now paying £44.40 a month for Elvis and Lucy, but I feel it's worth it.

Poor Ruby - hope she's feeling a bit better now. It's a mystery how they pick up these injuries.
I agree with Bronwen on the insurance - we're with M & S and they seem to be very good. Blue and Lou are so accident prone that we've made a profit on the premium every year (of course, it's not really profit for us - just for the vet)

Angela, i am so sorry to hear about poor little Ruby. Big hugs from us. I know the feeling, having to leave them at the vets. I hate it too.
£800!! That's unbelievable!
Hope the girl makes a speedy recovery x

Just got back from the vets with Ruby. The vet has stitched her back up and said when he was cleaning the tissue from around the wound he saw the jugular vein and said she was very lucky not to have punched it.
She is very dopey and was promptly sick all over the lounge carpet when I got her indoors.
The vet was telling me she behaved herself and she is a lovely dog and all the nurses were making a fuss of her when she was leaving.
Got to go back to vets next Monday for check up
Angela
ps yes thank goodness we have insurance - we are insured with tesco's and pay £39 for the three of them.
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR GOOD WISHES SHE IS SUCH A BABY AND HATES BEING AWAY FROM ME

I'm so glad Ruby's on the mend. I'm now wondering why I pay higher insurance premiums for two than you pay for three, as we're with Tesco too! Anyway, and most importantly, I'm glad you've got your baby home now.

Hi Angela, Pleased to hear Ruby is ok and now home with you. Did the vet say if she had been bitten or had just caught it?

Hi Angela, Pleased to hear Ruby is ok and now home with you. Did the vet say if she had been bitten or had just caught it? Verna x Hi Verna He said it looked like a bite, but we still think that if they had a argument surely there would of been more damage and Tia would of had a injury We know Charlie was not involved as he was in the crate. But the vet said last night when I picked her up that it is one of those things and we would never find out the true cause. She has come into work with me today as I did not want to leave her with the other two until her wound has healed. Angela x

Sorry about Rubies injury, if there was a fight I agree with you re Tia. Do you think she could have scratched and done it herself with a claw? It is a bit worrying, which one of the two girls is the most dominant if any? Yvonne
