yesterday while walking prince, who was on my right. a stupid woman came across the road at me with her little rat and lunged at prince, if i hadn`t of seen what was coming and put my hand to protect his throat i really dread to think what might of happened. my heart was in my mouth. but i did shout out very loudly that her rat should be muzzled. but she never even said sorry. the reaction i have had from people is that greyhounds will have a go at small dogs, but in the seven months of owning prince its the smaller dogs having a go at him, some of the smaller dogs up the school prince is facinated with and them with him, he looks at them as if to say call your self a dog. i think that if you know your dog will lunge at other dogs regardless what size or breed they should be muzzled. and that also includes the owner if they cannot be responsible.

i once called into a talk radio show about the very same thing once and practically got laughed off because i said a similar thing and told a storey about how a 'gang' of 3 westies came running upto joe and i and completely surrounded us and the result was joe was terrified and jumping about trying to get away and ended up giving one of them a bit of a 'get away growl/grumble' and the lad with the dogs cam upto us and tried to tell me i should keep my dog muzzled! and yet she was the one letting her 'pack' run free to do what it wants....... sometimes i think its 'small dog syndrome'; just coz they are small they get away with it.....

It annoys me that some irresponsible people with little dogs seem to think its funny for some reason that their little dog has a go at bigger dogs.

I totally agree that lunging dogs are a menace. I had only had Prince for 10 days before he had dog jump on his back and bite him around his neck the dog was on one of those extendable leads the owner had no control. I have had no end of incidents involving little dogs. Their owners think its ok to allow them to run off leash and terrorise other dogs. Prince gets terrified when they run around his ankles yapping. I used to worry about his reaction and that he might snap but not anymore. It makes me so cross. Lesley x

prince has had a close shave with a staff in that situation, i felt it was the owners fault more than the dogs. if i was judge and jury i would put the owners to sleep and not the dogs.......................sorry i`m really annoyed today and its not just about dog owners
