If the dog has earmarks they should contact the RGT, they should have a record of the owner assuming it's not an active racer in which case Greyhound data might be able to help. Who has the dog? "lost and found pets Barking and Dagenham" didn't lead me to anything via a Google search.

It's a public Facebook group Mark. The girlie is Tattooed, finder checked for that and may have written them down but not the sort of thing to share on internet. She was taken to London Borough Barking and Dagenham kennels who told lady she would be sent to Chingford Kennels, probably don't have Dog Warden on at weekend. Will post more as info comes in. There is a photo on the site. Haven't told Pat as she is usually busy Sat morn.

Hi Yvonne, I don't have a Facebook logon unfortunately, do you? If so post a comment on there about sending the ear marking code to RGT head office to see if they have a record of the owner. Also if the dog is a fairly recent rehoming it will be microchipped. They could submit a query online to the RGT, here www.retiredgreyhounds.co.uk/Contact/. Or they can email me (mark @ greyhoundhomer.co.uk - without the spaces) with the ear markings and I'll email it over to Head Office for them to have a go at tracing.

Mark I've asked finder to contact me with tattoo details so we can check but she will probably just leave it to the Dog warden/ kennels. I have rung Romford Dogtrack and reported the found girlie to them.

The comments regarding this girl being rehomed by Brentwood rehoming centre have now been removed from site !!!! FB site Hornchuch Animal Rescue and Rehoming are now asking if anybody recognises her as the Tattoos can't be read, Tatts in both ears and unregistered microchip. Have to admit I never could read Cassie Tatts.

I've fired an email to Sam, Alice and Oliver at RGT head office about this to see if they can deal with contact details for Barking & Dagenham. If the Microchip is unregistered, it could be a newly rehomed dog where the paperwork hasn't gone through the system yet. Emphasised the risk of being PTS. Although everyone seems to be out of the office until Thursday, so I guess there's something on.

Thanks Pat and Mark. It has now been posted that Brentwood rehomers are willing to take her if unclaimed after she has done her 7 days. I will pass on tip to put torch behind ears. What doesn't help is Doglost has been out of action due to major revamp.

I have heard back from RGT head office they tried to reach the council but couldn't get through by phone, Jo has sent a message via an online form though. Apparently even if the microchip is unregistered now, they can go back to the owner when the dog was racing from GBGB records.

It's so nice to know that you've all worked hard for this poor little girl,, let's hope she'll either be reunited with loving owners, or find a caring new home very soon.

The latest on this found girl is, dog just retired from breeding, then, Notice has now been sent to owner. I'm guessing by Dog Warden but don't know. Hope she wasn't just turned out. Anyway I think she will be taken in by a Rescue. Common excuse by last traceable owner on some found dogs is "Oh I rehomed the dog a couple of months ago" but they don't know who to. Thanks for your help if I find out anymore I'll let you know.
