I know greyhounds adjust to home life brilliantly but we're still astounded how Lily has just taken to her new life. It melts my heart to see her so happy and content, she's an absolute joy. So many people come up for a cuddle with Lily when we're out and about and want to chat about greyhounds and how they've always wanted one. I've been singing the praises of Dunton RGT, so little Lily is already a ambassador for greyhounds! I'll be back with another update after Lily has started her dog socialising class

Sorry I couldn't resist posting another pic. Lily has sardines added to her dinner on Tuesday's and Fridays, she loves them! This is after a long afternoon walk in the rain and a sardine dinner, bliss! http://instagram.com/p/BO7hL28Bulr

Lily is but thank goodness this forum doesn't have smellivision! Lily did a solid neck rub in a pile of leaves with hidden fox poo on this afternoons walk. OMG it stinks, managed to get the stench off her with warm water and a lot of time and a sponge, but she managed to wedge half the fox poo in her collar. No amount of washing and scrubbing is getting the stench out, time for a new collar I think!

Lily always looks so utterly contented, she is beautiful.
Our girl Roma developed kidney problems before Christmas. We first noticed as she was wetting her bed on a very regular basis, and then just lying in it. We made a vet's appointment for the next day and decided she needed to be taken out on a lead every few hours, as she will only go outside if forced at this time of year! So, I had washed her rear end about 3 times that day, one duvet is in the washing machine and another is in the drier. Took the dogs out for a walk and Roma did the old 'dive and roll' on a grass verge. I found the fox poo when I took her collar off at home. So, it's midnight, laundry is still being done, I am washing Roma's neck, ears and collar, and then scrubbing my hands with dettol. My life is just one round of glamour!
The increased walking is working though, no wet beds for a couple of weeks. She's also on a special diet which seems to be helping, though I suspect it would be cheaper to buy her a new kidney.

Forgot to say, it always seems to be the girls who do that, our boy Darcy is far too ladylike to roll in fox poo.

Oh sallyannh Roma sounds lovely, and you had me in stitches with your story, we lead such glamorous lives don't we! Hoping Roma's kidneys get better, sounds like they are

Should add I thought Lily just had wet leaves stuck to her neck and tried to brush them off with my hand! Anyway fox poo stinks and after scrubbing my hands we had to abandon any thoughts of cooking and got a take away!

I promise this really is the last update until dog socialising classes update! Lily had her first pub visit on her own today. She'd previously gone a couple of times with Wicket the border terrier, as he's an old hand at pubs! Anyway Lily is now a minor celebrity at our local so many people came up for a chat and a cuddle with Lily. I'm amazed how many people absolutely love greyhounds, we have of course taken the opportunity to big up Dunton http://instagram.com/p/BPA8FNmhjlb Ps. We were both secretly very proud of Lily for the fox poo incident, even though gross we're very pleased she's embracing her doggie instincts

Lily has been home 7 weeks this weekend! So this will be the last update in 'just rehomed' and we'll graduate to the 'dogs Diary' thread from now on Lily had her first visit to the vets earlier this week, nothing wrong but we just wanted her first visit to be positive. The vet was wonderful with Lily and she seemed clued up on greyhounds. The vet is only a few streets away from us and Lily tried to walk up their drive as we went past on her walk today, so I think that means she approves too Lily has made some doggy friends in the park and wags her tail and sniffs their bums when we see them I hadn't really thought about it but the first month Lily didn't wag her tail at all on walks :/ Her favourite park buddies are an aloof Weimaraner, a bouncey but impeccably behaved Staffie rescue, a tiny but fat French Bull Terrier, and a old collie. As well as her scruffy cousin Wicket the Border Terrier and best bud Farah the Greyhound. We're still continuing to control any doggie meetings and we're much more confident asking owners to keep their barking loose dogs away (in the nicest possible way) or detouring if they're totally over the top! Our first doggie class was Tuesday evening, it was for the humans only! It's a small class, 5 dogs. Which will really suit Lily. Lovely bunch of people and really impressed with the trainer: kindness, understanding and consistency are only allowed in her class We're very much looking forward to taking Lily with us next week and relieved to know no dogs are allowed off the lead, so Lily is on an equal footing. Lily is not only our first greyhound but also my first ever dog and I'm really embracing trying to learn as much as possible to make Lily's life as easy and enjoyable as possible. Lily's Daddy keeps showing us houses nearer our family that have gardens as well as countryside and beach walks on the doorstep, suggesting if we moved Lily could have a greyhound friend. Watch this space Pat we may be in touch later this year! One last pic, Lily loves picking up Toms wooly hat and my unicorn slippers and trotting with them, very proud of herself, and placing them in her bed http://instagram.com/p/BPI1LxbAntc
