I have an idea that the local herd of deer go by our bedroom window at about 3 or 4 am He still wakes up and roo's a bit. I've put a sheet up at the back door so that the pesky cats can't tease him. I can tell when the rooing turns to desperate barking that the ginge next door is looking in. It's worked out that he can't get it through the door and continues to sit there I'm having trouble with getting him to change his meal time. As he still prefers to hide in the bedroom he ignores his bowl until he's ready. I've been removing it at night-time so that he can't graze on it, but then he mithers for something to eat. He stashes treats too rather than eats them straight away, so he usually manages to find things (I found 2 bonio's and a pigs ear last time I shook his bedding out ;D) Also, any advice on stopping him barking so much at dogs that go past our garden? Come the summer the hedge will have grown a bit more so he won't be able to see what's on the other side so well, I'm also going to plant some stuff round the bottom of it to disguise the view, but he seems very 'keen' when a dog walks past. The hedge is secure with extra fencing along the boundary of the garden, so a break out isn't a worry, but the barking is quite annoying. Tia x

Hey, our pups bark when someone walks past with or without dogs! And bertie has been watching them do it for months but he can't see outside unless he is upstairs either in my room or my uncles! He now "moofs" when something goes past but not that much.....I'm guessing that when the hedge grows back it should stop him ?!

I'm of no help here whatsoever unfortunately, because all of mine bark. They go beserk if anyone or any dog passes the front fence. However, we are quite rural here, so i encourage it myself, as it is a deterrent, and also help to alert us should anyone be around when it is dark, or the early hours of the morning and potentially up to no good. However, i have often thought what it would be like if i lived in a more suburban area. It would be a nightmare, so i can empathise with you. Hope you get the barking problem sorted, as i'm sure you will. There is a lot of experienced and knowledgeable people on here to help you. Strange though, because you often hear it said that greyhounds are not 'barky dogs.' We can beg to differ on that one can't we ;D All the best and good luck. Andy
