We brought Whiz home today ;D
He is my 4th greyhound, having lost my last just before christmas who died in her sleep at the age of 15.
Whiz is very calm but looking very bewildered. He's found a corner and is viewing home life from there. (I sense that it is mostly with one raised eyebrow) Since it's right in front of the back door it's right in the way! But he is doing the renown greyhound rug impression.
Doesn't move alot, does he ;D
I'm 40 and live with my partner and daughter. My real name is Zena, but I'm so used to being Wolf on forums that it just stuck. I don't think I'd recognise my own name up there.

It's quite funny, compared to the other 3 gannets I've had, he doesn't seem to think he's allowed the tit-bits I don't suppose that'll last long ;D

Hi Zena - Sorry I missed you today too. We just got too wet and cold, so had to go. So glad Wizz has got a home with you. I have Ruby, who is eleven, and I took Millie, now named Grace home last week. She is two years younger, and has settled in really well with my lot. I'm sure Wizz will have a lovely life with you, and will settle quickly. Do put some photos up, when you can. Good Luck with him, and welcome to the forum. Hazel

He spent a quiet night, but still in his corner. It's quite enclosed there, so he probably felt safer. Despite agreeing that when we were out he wasn't going to be allowed in the living room and bedrooms until we know more of his character (have you ever come home and found that the dog has chewed the entire top layer of your mattress up - that wasn't a greyhound, that was a mad collie) we decided to let him stay in his corner while we did the school run. Well, while our backs were turned he's had a bit of an explore and found a comfy bed made just for him ;D He's beginning to creep out and have an explore, but as soon as he thinks he's being watched he goes back to his corner. He doesn't seem to have tried the sofas out for size yet either. The first hound I had was asleep on my bed within 30 mins of bringing him home. ;D Hehehe and while my partner had agreed that I should have another dog, the stipulation was that it would be MY dog and therefore my responsibilty. Guess who's smitten already ;D Although of course he won't admit it. ;D

Hi wolf, I also missed you at the kennels, I was another mad person there in the rain to pass Pat some paperwork.
I'm sure Whiz will settle down, he was sometimes quite vocal at the Kennels, so it's interesting that he's now gone quite quiet. However I'm sure he'll soon get into the swing of things. They always seem to! Our Seaney has never gone on our sofas or beds, not because we didn't want him to, but he's never shown interest in doing so. We have plenty of dog beds scattered round the place and sometimes a bed makes it's way into the kitchen if he can't bear to be without us whilst we eat.

Hi Zena Congratulations on homing whizz. He's a lovely dog. I walked him ath the kennels. I'm owned by Betty and beautiful black bitch who has been with us for 3 months now . My husband didn't want a dog and I was told she's my dog and my resposibility but guess who spoils her most . My son and daughter are also on the forum as Bettysmelissa and Bettyscraig. Nicky

Thank you for all your welcomes ;D
He's getting a bit more adventurous. He's taking things slowly though ;D
He really doesn't know what to do with children. I'm asking my daughter to go up to him calmly and pet him or give him a titbit and then leave him alone, which will hopefully give him the idea that she's not scary.
He had a panic when some kids went past him in the park this morning, and as for when he had buggy's coming towards him from both directions yesterday! He really didn't know what to do and tried to jump in my friends van instead.
Does anyone know much about his background? Has he had any bad experiences with small children? It's not a problem as we will work with him on it, Lili is being very patient with him and his nerves aren't manifesting themselves in any form of aggression, but if anything is known it would be helpful.

Oh bless him! Welcome to he forum, I have bertie a large spoilt boy ;D bert stopped racing last may and I homed him in June and he hadn't seen any children before either! My boyfriend has 5nephews and 2 nieces and he just stares at them even though he has "known" them for 7months now! He is nervous around them but let's them cuddle him, it has taken a while but I have got them to either cuddle or give him a treat and it has worked wonders! Where as to start with he would dive over things or run away!! I think you are doing the right thing :-) whizz sounds lovely!!
