Hello all. What an infrmative site ;D Im off to the kennels at Monmore this week. My family have our eye on a beautiful black boy. We lost our Dobe on Boxing day 2009. We were all devestated. He was 12 years old and I came down in the morning to find him "gone". I couldnt talk about it for weeks and vowed "never to put myself through that again". Sooo, roll forward almost 18 months and after lots of research and speaking with peopl we are ready to have a new addition in our lives I will have lots of questions for you all. I feel like an excited child about to meet a long lost friend. We cant wait to be able to have a new furry family member. Lisa

Hello Lisa and welcome, this is a very friendly site, does not matter where you got your dog from, you will still be made welcome, there is plenty of advice from people who have had greyhounds and been there and done it , dont be afraid to ask questions that is what we are there for. have great fun with your new addition, greyhounds are a breed on their own and have their own funny ways, and great for taking on a black dog, the hardest dog to home. well done. pat

Welcome!
Good decision to go for a greyhound - they are wonderful companions - I should know - I've got three - Lou, Lynx and Ty! If you stay with the forum then you'll get to know mine via Lynx's diary - he writes a blog about their adventures!
I should explain that I'm called sue the jam because I make lots of jam for Pat to sell to support Greyhoundhomer!

Hello, I've got Fizz, she's my second Grey. It took me years to get Fizz after losing my first one, but after having Fizz for nearly two years, I wonder why it took me so long. They do make great pets. Welcome to the forum. Lee & Fizz

Hi Lisa and welcome to the forum. Congratulations on getting a greyhound. My family and I are owned by Betty a beautiful black girl who has been with us for 16 months now. She is the most fantastic addition to our family. We have never had a dog before and a greyhound has to be the best dog to have. So pleased you want a black dog, as Pat says they are the hardest to home although I don't know why. I think they are so beautiful, especially after they come home and end up with a lovely shiny coat Hope you have lots of fun with your new grey and look forward to seeing pictures Nicky

Hi Lisa, welcome to the forum and well done for deciding to give one of these amazing dogs a home. I am owned by a beautiful blue girl called Mousha (racing name Blue Moucha). I have been her mummy for nearly three years now and I don't regret a single day of it. Deciding to give a greyhound a home was probably the best decision I have ever made. They make the most wonderful pets. So, gentle, loving and affectionate and real characters as well. I wish you and know you will have lots of fun and happy times together

Hi Lisa Welcome to the forum ;D I'm Sarah - and together with my other half Nick we are extremely priviledged to be owned by the very handsome Vinny (we've had him for 19 months and he's 8 this year) and the beautiful bouncy Gracie Lu (she's been bossing us about for 15 months now and is a little black girl who is almost 4) Congrats on choosing a houndie - they are without a doubt the most awesome breed and I'm thrilled you have chosen a black boy - just watch his coat take on a fabulous shine You won't regret your decision and we look forward to hearing all about how you get on Sarah, Nick, Vinny & Gracie Lu xxxx

Drum roll please................ We are the proud new owners of a hound :-) If you look on monmore Green RGT you will see him. His name at the moment is Wispa. REALLY excited about it. spent a small fortune on the way home He is in need of a good rake and brush up but once home im sure it wont take long to have him gleaming ;D Due to going on holiday and having some commitments soon we cant have him "forever" until June. He will be coming and staying for some weekends and days in the week as and when, up until mid may when we go on holiday. Then once home we can collect him on June 8th. I then have 6 days off to be able to start some training properly with him. WAHOOOOOO Lisa
